Enormous Panties

Can you guess what film my latest journal page for Art Journal Journey is inspired by?

It's the fabulous Bridget Jones' Diary, one of my favourite books and films. I just love that scene where Daniel Cleaver discovers Bridget's wearing enormous pants, or 'panties' for those across the Pond 😁

I used magazine images, sheets of note paper, and some 7 Gypsies patterned paper. I thought that model looked uncannily like Renee Zellwegger, although a bit slimmer than her Bridget Jones character.

I think this may be my final page for my Play it again, Sam theme at Art Journal Journey. Thanks to everyone who joined in, I know it was a tricky theme for some. I really enjoyed seeing your pages 😊

Hugs,

Alison

100 Days of Watercolour - 66-72

 Hello All.

Here are another week of my watercolour artworks for The 100 Day Project. Most of them have had the rock salt treatment.

Day 66 - Carrying on with my botanical doodles

Day 67

Day 68

Day 69 - Thought I'd try a mandala.

Day 70

Day 71 - I used a stencil with watercolour paint on this one. I tried it with a brush at first, which was a disaster, and ended up using a make-up sponge. It was difficult to get much paint on though, as it got sucked into the sponge, but it worked eventually.

Day 72 - Went back to my doodles 😁

Thanks so much for coming to visit today.

And they called it....

Puppy love was the first record that I bought myself. So long ago now, I was a huge Donny Osmond fan. I did eventually see him in concert, probably about ten years ago now. He was still dreamy...sigh...

Here's my art journal page inspired by that first single I bought. I'm linking it to my Play It Again, Sam theme at Art Journal Journey.

I used up a few pieces of collage fodder I had lying around. The main image is a Tim Holtz stamp, and I used my hand-carved heart stamp for the large hearts. I also stamped the hearts 3 times onto orange inky card, and cut out the centres, then offset these against the white hearts.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you're having a lovely weekend.

The Boys Of Summer

 Hi Everyone!

I'm back today with another page for my Play It Again, Sam theme at Art Journal Journey

The Boys Of Summer came on the radio yesterday, and I knew I had to include this fantastic song in the challenge. It's another song I have to turn up loud and sing along too, and it brings back memories of the days I was dating my husband before we were married. He introduced me to a lot of the music I love now.

Thanks for dropping by,

100 Days of Watercolour - 59-65

Hello All.

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter. Ours was very quiet, but we had some beautiful Spring weather and enjoyed a few lovely long walks.

Here are another seven of my little 10x10cm watercolour paintings for The 100 Day Project.

Day 65 - The first of a new series with botanical elements. I sprinkled some salt on this one, then waited until it was dry before brushing it off and painting the leaf.

Domino

 Hello Everyone.

It's a beautiful warm and sunny Good Friday. We went out just after 6.30am for a sunrise walk this morning. It was a great start to the day, with lots of birdsong, and we saw some sweet spring lambs too. Hubby's highlight was seeing a couple of flying squirrels, leaping from one tree to another high above us 😁

Today, I have another page to share for my Play It Again, Sam theme at Art Journal Journey

I chose the Genesis song Domino, and the cover art from the Invisible Touch album as my inspiration. Some of you Genesis fans might recognise it. I'm a huge Genesis fan, and this is one of my favourite albums. I went to see them live at Wembley in 1987, on their Invisible Touch tour. It was a fantastic concert. I did find this YouTube video of the concert, the sound isn't brilliant, but I still enjoyed re-watching, and it brought back happy memories.

Music Was My First Love

One of my most favourite songs is Music by John Miles. Whenever it comes on the radio, I turn it up loud, and sing my heart out to it, with lots of arm waving conductor style 😁. So I had to include it on a page for my Play It Again, Sam theme at Art Journal Journey.

I used a piece of music sheet, and some collage pieces I had lying on my desk, then stamped the Dina Wakley heart on a painted piece of paper and cut it out. I found some very old alphabet transfers and my Dymo tape for the words.

I'm going to have to find the song on YouTube now, and have a good old sing to it. Here it is. Sad to see that John Miles passed away on 5th December 2021. Here's a more up to date version in 2017.

100 Days of Watercolour - 52-58

 Hello All.

I hope you're all well. It's been a good day here, apart from getting a crown fitted at the dentist this afternoon. But that doesn't feel too bad now. It was just a case of taking the temporary one off, then fitting the permanent one. It took a bit of adjustment though, as it was slightly too big.

This morning was great though, I got my usual Monday doggy fix, walking with my friend and her sweet poodle. We always have coffee and cake at the cafe too, and Pascal gets his doggy sausage.

Here are my latest week's watercolour art, more abstract pieces.

Day 52 - I've made this one into an Easter card.

Day 53 - This one is an Easter card too.

Day 54 - This one has a lovely shimmer, and the circles have glitter in the watercolour paint.

Day 55

Day 56

Day 57

Day 58 - I couldn't resist using that gold watercolour again. Sadly, it's not a great photo. I love those colours!

I used Little Rainbow Moon watercolours for days 52-57, and Arteza watercolours for day 58. The gold is from a set of metallics and interference watercolours by Imagination Crafts.

Thanks for dropping by my blog today,

Alison

Frankly my dear...

Is that a good enough clue to my inspiration for this page?

It's another one for my Play It Again, Sam theme at Art Journal Journey. It is of course the golden oldie 'Gone With The Wind'.

I used a previously made inky background of reds, oranges and yellows. I can't remember whether I used Distress Inks or Dylusions. I thought this fiery background worked well for the theme of the film.

The lace stamp is from a small Prima set, and the dresses and quotes are from an old Joanna Sheen stamp set that I've had for years. I hand-drew and watercolour-painted the Confederate flags.

Thanks so much for all your recent comments, and for visiting me today.

I hope you're having a wonderful weekend.

Raise Your Hand(s)

 Hello All.

I've been reading a lot over the last couple of days. I signed up to our library online, and found the latest Kate Mosse book, then a couple of Jojo Moyes' books. After the recent stress of Graham's mini stroke, I think I needed a little relaxation time. He seems ok now, thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

I do have another page to share today, for my Play it again, Sam theme at Art Journal Journey. This one is inspired by Bon Jovi's song Raise Your Hands.

The hand image is a PaperArtsy stamp by Kasia Avery of Everything Art, and I used some other stamps from the set in the background.

Thanks for all your lovely comments, and for visiting me today.

Handbags and Gladrags

 Hello All.

I have another art journal page to share today, for my Play It Again Sam theme at Art Journal Journey

This page is inspired by Mike D'Abo's brilliant song Handbags and Gladrags. He originally wrote it for Chris Farlowe, but it's been covered by Rod Stewart and The Stereophonics, all great versions. It's definitely one of my favourite songs.

Thanks for dropping by,

Alison

100 Days of Watercolour - 45-51

 Hello Everyone.

Yesterday my husband had another visit to the hospital, this time for a neck scan. Fortunately this was clear too, so the doctor thinks that he probably had a mini stroke, and has given him more medication. He'll also have a follow up appointment in a few months. So hopefully he'll take it a bit easier at work and be ok now. 🙏

With everything happening with Graham, I forgot to post my watercolour art for The 100 Day Project yesterday, so here they are. I've managed to pass the halfway mark 😊

Day 45

Day 46

Day 47

Day 48 - you can see the gold watercolour better in the second photo.

Day 49 - I used some shimmery watercolours by Little Rainbow Moon in the next few pieces. There are matt colours too.

Day 50

Day 51

I'm really enjoying doing the abstract pieces, there'll be more next time.

Thanks for visiting,

Alison
