Creative JumpStart Day 29

Happy Friday to you all!

Day 29 of CJS was with Seth Apter. We created a story board about ourselves, using spray-inked and stencilled papers, words to describe ourselves, and attaching the grid pieces with staples.

I used Dylusions spray inks, and added some contrasting dots and splatters with a red paint pen.

I'm linking my page to Valerie's Heavy Metal theme at Art Journal Journey.

Thanks for dropping by,

Have a great weekend,

31 Products Challenge - Day 5 - Black Gesso

Hello Everyone!

Today I used black gesso for the 31 Products Challenge. Acrylic paint colours look amazing on top of the black, but you have to remember to use opaque paint. I created an ombre effect with PaperArtsy Fresco Acrylics and a Seth Apter stencil, outlining with a white Posca Paint Pen.

Happy Friday,

October Art Journal Calendar & 31 Products

Hi Everyone! It's a new month (well, 3 days in!), so today I'm sharing my art journal calendar for October.

I started by using my finger to make the circles of Fresco Acrylic paint, then I sprinkled on some warm shades of PaperArtsy Infusion powders and activated them with a spritz of water. I stamped a Carabelle Studio leaf with white and black ink, added white paint splatters, then stamped the title and added the day numbers. I've used warm shades and my comfort colours of blue and green, so I'm entering this spread for Linda's 'Creature Comforts' Challenge at Art Journal Journey.

Next I have a couple more pages to share for Birgit Koopsen's 31 Products Challenge on Instagram.

Day Two - Modelling Paste - I made patterns with the end of a paintbrush, splashed on some tea and finished with some found book text. I couldn't find a tea-related phrase, so the coffee one was the next best thing! Lol!

Day Three - Adirondak Colour Wash Spray - I spritzed Raisin, Terracotta and Cranberry through a Seth Apter stencil, outlined in black, then added some found book text.

Hope you're all having a fab and arty week,

Alison xox

365 Somethings 2018 - Week 37

Hi Everyone! Hope you all had a good weekend. I'm here today with my teabag art for Week 37 of the 365 Somethings Challenge.

I began these ones with a base of white Fresco acrylic paint, then some turquoise and green, all applied with my finger. Then I sponged black acrylic through a Seth Apter stencil, then applied crackle paste through a PaperArtsy stencil. I cut out some butterfly girls and hats, and used matte medium to adhere them. I finished with a black gel pen border and a base for the girls to stand on.

New Job, A Fantasy Calendar, & Some Teabags

Hi Everyone!

It's been a bit quiet on the blog for a few weeks, but I'm finally back. We officially have an empty nest now! Our son moved up to Manchester two years ago, and our daughter, after 4 years of Uni, an 8 month SE Asia gap year, and just over a month back at home, has now moved up to Derby to live. She started her grad scheme job with Rolls Royce today, and here's the card I made to wish her good luck. The pearly embellishments came from a pair of sandals that she bought on her travels, and wore out!

Next, and I'm late with this one! It's my art journal calendar pages for September. I normally have an Autumnal theme for this month, but the warm weather is still here, so I made a Summery spread. Perhaps I can fantasise that the Summer will last forever, and link my spread to Yvonne's 'A World Of Fantasy' Challenge at Art Journal Journey?

And finally, a whole week late, I have my teabags for Week 34 of the 365 Somethings Challenge to share. I used foil transfers on these ones, stamped some script, added some Tim Holtz phrase stickers, then flicked some white paint. They're extra sparkly as they were still a bit sticky in places, so I added some fine glitter.

Well that's me nearly caught up. I'll be altering some teabags for my week 35 Somethings tomorrow, so watch this space.

Have a great week,

Alison xox

Time Alone

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Although I love to spend time with family and friends, one thing I also enjoy is a bit of time alone for reflection, making art, reading, and sitting in the garden watching the birds. So here is an abstract page I created for Elizabeth's Count Your Blessings Challenge at Art Journal Journey. I used PaperArtsy Fresco Acrylic paints, tea stained book page, and Seth Apter stencils for the words.

Thanks for visiting,

Birgit Koopsen's Gelliprint Challenge - Days 17, 18 & 19

Hi Everyone. In spite of the snow forecast, we chanced a trip North to see our son in Manchester, and had a lovely weekend with him in his newly rented house in Hulme. We arrived home last night to more snow falling in Kent. It looks very wintry outside today again. Perfect weather for catching up with Birgit's challenge today, and I have some more printing adventures to share with you.

Day 17 - Letters. I used a cheap plastic alphabet stencil for these...

And a Tim Holtz stencil for this...

Day 18 - Numbers. I used a Carabelle Studio stencil for these...

And a PaperArtsy stencil for this one...

Day 19 - Book Pages. I used Stencil Girl stencils on these ones, and got very carried away...

And finally, Birgit demonstrated a technique with Alcohol Inks and Stazon ink in this YouTube video today, so I decided to try it out. I love the results!

My pile of prints is growing fast, I can't wait to use them on some projects.

Happy Monday,

Alison x
