New Job, A Fantasy Calendar, & Some Teabags

Hi Everyone!

It's been a bit quiet on the blog for a few weeks, but I'm finally back. We officially have an empty nest now! Our son moved up to Manchester two years ago, and our daughter, after 4 years of Uni, an 8 month SE Asia gap year, and just over a month back at home, has now moved up to Derby to live. She started her grad scheme job with Rolls Royce today, and here's the card I made to wish her good luck. The pearly embellishments came from a pair of sandals that she bought on her travels, and wore out!

Next, and I'm late with this one! It's my art journal calendar pages for September. I normally have an Autumnal theme for this month, but the warm weather is still here, so I made a Summery spread. Perhaps I can fantasise that the Summer will last forever, and link my spread to Yvonne's 'A World Of Fantasy' Challenge at Art Journal Journey?

And finally, a whole week late, I have my teabags for Week 34 of the 365 Somethings Challenge to share. I used foil transfers on these ones, stamped some script, added some Tim Holtz phrase stickers, then flicked some white paint. They're extra sparkly as they were still a bit sticky in places, so I added some fine glitter.

Well that's me nearly caught up. I'll be altering some teabags for my week 35 Somethings tomorrow, so watch this space.

Have a great week,

Alison xox

  1. Hello Alison.
The card for your daughter is just so beautiful. I can't imagine how you made the background (was a gelli plate involved I wonder) and what a nice touch to add the pearly embellishments from a pair of her sandals. The letters look great strung out like a banner.
September's calendar looks good, all ready to go, and i'm always fascinated by your teabag art, so unusual and pretty.

  7. Wow, Alison, when you catch up, you catch UP! Your card is adorable and the embellishments have such a personal meaning, too. So glad she has new dream job.

You put my calendar to shame. I love this and think you did a great job of creating a bit of fantasy for us at Art Journal Journey. If only my calendar pages looked 1/1000th that fanciful.

I have NO idea what foil transfers are, but I DO like what you did for week 34. I look forward to seeing your next series, too.

  8. I already missed you - but that was a good cause to pause and spend the days with your daughter before she starts her new exciting job! A fabulous card - worth RR! Lol! And your calendar spread is gorgeous and fits our new theme perfectly. Thank you very much dear Alison! And as always I am in love with the teabags of the week! I told you already - you should sell them on etsy - they would be fast sellers.

Happy week Alison--- an empty nest is sad but you have so much more time for your art!
    And that is wonderful!

    Hugs, Susi

  14. Lovely to see what you've been up to alongside this momentous time. Many congrats to Beth on the new job - fabulous card for the occasion. (I got waves of nostalgia - thirty years since my boyfriend at the time started his post-graduate scheme with RR. He was from Derby, so it wasn't much of a move for him!) The teabags are enchanting. Hope you'll find plenty of crafting time to fill the empty nest.

  15. I have always intended to do one of those calendar pages but never got around to it yet. Now, seeing yours I think I am going to definitely have a try. Love the fantasy that this summer we have had will carry on for a bit longer and how you have echoed it in your pages. Might just have to join you there in thoughts.
    Great page Alison
    Hugs, Neet xx
