5 Minute Art Journaling - Day 7

Hi Everyone! It's the 7th and final day of SouthernGal's 5 Minute Journaling Challenge on Instagram. I'm definitely getting the hang of this, and it's a great way to fit in some creativity, even when it's too hot, or you're busy.

I got some paint out ready, and chose a great colour combo that PaperArtsy have as their current challenge. Claret, Sage, Mint & Gold. Although I forgot to use mint, and I have turquoise scraps, so it probably won't count. I'm going to enter my page for Try It On Tuesday's Book Paper Challenge though.

I applied the base of sage paint with an old credit card, and used the corner to scribble in it. Such fun! And I used a small round paint brush to create the flower petals and marks, another of my favourite techniques.

This speedy challenge has been such a blessing in the heat this week, so I'm linking to Elizabeth's Count Your Blessings Challenge over at Art Journal Journey too. And Moo Mania & Moo are asking for Sheet Music, so I'm linking there too!

Hope you all have a wonderful and creative weekend,

Art Journal Journey - Count Your Blessings

Hello Folks!

I count Creativity as one of my greatest blessings in life, so I'm linking today's 5 minute spread to Elizabeth's Challenge at Art Journal Journey.

Here's my Day 6 spread after 5 minutes...

Then I couldn't resist adding some extra outlines and doodles, as I would normally do, when time is not limited.

I found another great Tim Holtz quote sticker, which was appropriate to SouthernGal's 5 minute art challenge.

It's nearly 90 degs where we live in the UK today, so I'm hiding indoors in my cool art room. Hope you're keeping cool, happy and comfortable wherever you are in the world.

5 Minute Art Journaling - Day Five

Hi Everyone! Crikey, is it day 5 already?! Here's today's 5 minute spread.

I had some paint and collage, and a sticker picked out ready, set off the timer, and voila! So fun and freeing, and I really love this page!

Hope you all have a wonderful day,

August Art Journal Calendar & 5 Minute Journaling

Happy August Everyone!

Here's my new art journal calendar pages for the month ahead. I decided to go abstract, with PaperArtsy Fresco acrylic, mark-making tools, and I used a PaperArtsy stencil to create the little journaling blocks. The title was hand-written.

And, here is my 5 minute art journal page for SouthernGal's challenge. I did get some paint on my palette and found some mark-making tools, before I started the timer, and today I had seconds to spare, so I managed to add a dotty border and splatters with a paint pen.

I spotted this quote and thought it quite appropriate.

I'll be back tomorrow with another quick page.

Have a great evening,

Alison xox

5 Minute Art Journaling Day 3

Hi Everyone!

My 5 minute journaling today was inspired by a wonderful visit to the Frida Kahlo exhibition with my daughter, at The V&A museum in London. It was amazing to see Frida's art, her beautiful clothes, and the awful corsets she had to wear after her many operations. Also lots of photos of her looking so beautiful. She really was an amazing and inspirational woman and artist in my opinion. The exhibition is well worth a visit if you can get to it.

Anyway, here's my page. I got a few elements ready this time, as the 5 minutes goes so quickly! It really is a rush! Hahaha!

Hoping to enter this page last minute for Chris' Art For Art's Sake Challenge at Art Journal Journey.

Hope you've had a great day too!

Five Minute Art Journaling and 365 Somethings

Hi Everyone!

This five minute art journaling is scary! What a mess I created today, and I confess I added more black splatters and outlined the word sticker after my time was up. I used paint, and mint & liquorice teabags that were lurking on my desk. Anyway, here is my spread for Day Two of SouthernGal's Challenge, and I'm also linking it to Art Journal Journey. It's definitely Art For Art's Sake! Hahaha!

I also have my seven teabags for Week 30 of the 365 Somethings Challenge to show you.

Painty scraps with black pen marks, torn pieces of Asian newspaper (that our presents from Beth and Gordon came wrapped in), paints marks stamped with Lego, and splatters made with a gold pen.

A tip for you... If you want strong tea colour and marks, leave the pile of sodden teabags lying on a plate overnight, before squeezing, drying out and emptying.

Have a happy day,

Alison xox

Southern Gal's 7 Day 5 Minute Art Journaling Instagram Challenge

Hello Folks!

Over on Instagram, Tiffany of @Southerngals_designs has challenged us to create a 5 minute journal page a day, for the next seven days. Here's my Day One spread.  I'm using my little 6x4 inch art journal. I'm also sharing this page at Art Journal Journey.

I just used some paint and scraps that were on my desk, and teabags of course.

I went about 30 seconds over as my black paint pen hit some glue, and I had to re-activate it.

Also, most of you know that my daughter has just returned from 8 months of backpacking in SE Asia. We've been having wonderful catch-ups with her and my son (he went out to meet her in Myanmar for the last 3 weeks of her trip). Anyway, I just wanted to share some pics of the bunting I made for the big homecoming.

I used some really bright Gelli Plate prints, to which I added lots of extra stencilling.

Beth will being staying at home with us until September, when she is off to Derby to begin her working life as an engineer with Rolls Royce.

Wishing you all a happy and creative Sunday,

Alison xox
