52 Weeks Art Journal - Weeks 31 & 32

Hello Everyone. I have two pages to share today for Raspberry Blue Sky's 52 Weeks Art Journal challenge. I completely forgot to share last week's page.

Week 31 - Creative Chaos. I was crafting via Messenger video with my mate Nicky aka Minxy, and I decided to use my handmade prompt cards for my page to get an unplanned result. Nicky consulted Alexa, who picked '7' as the number of cards to use. And the last prompt was 'use a stamp', so Nicky told me to use a Dina Wakley face or figure. It turned out to be great creative chaos.

Week 32 - Collage. It was my Thursday crafting date with Nicky via Messenger video again, and this time we both made a page using my prompt cards. Alexa gave us 8 as the number of prompts to use this time. Luckily the first prompt was to use magazine images of a man and woman, so I was able to link to the collage theme. Coffee was one of the prompts, I hadn't used that in a while. I finished with some found text, which fitted quite nicely with the images. The man is off to play golf with his chums, and his wife doesn't appear displeased with that fact! I wonder what she has planned 😂

I'm linking this page to Neet's Type theme at Art Journal Journey. I used two types of recycle items to print with, bubblewrap and corrugated card.

Thanks for visiting,

Alison

Dream Big

Hi Everyone. I made another page for Eileen's Dreams/Wishes theme at Art Journal Journey. I used some of my handmade art prompt cards to get me started, as my mojo has been away on holiday ;-)

I want to say thanks to everyone for your good wishes after my last post. The gastroscope found nothing too bad, and went reasonably well thankfully, although it took three attempts to find a vein big enough for the cannula! I felt like a pin cushion!

Thanks for visiting,

Our Green and Pleasant Land

Happy Friday Everyone!

Our garden and local fields haven't been very green lately with the heatwave, but I've been busy watering plants to keep our garden as green as possible, and it made me appreciate our little bit of paradise.

So here is the second page I created at my friend Hazel's house, with my lovely garden in mind, and I'm linking it to Elizabeth's Count Your Blessings Challenge at Art Journal Journey.

It was another page created using my art prompts. I used some funky tree stamps by Dina Wakley to represent my garden love. The red splatters look like cherries on the trees, although we only have conifers in our garden. Hazel thought the blue splodges looked like her pond, although we only have a little stone birdbath at home.

Wishing you all a happy weekend,

Alison xxx

Art Journal Journey - Count Your Blessings

Hi Everyone! I have another page to share with Elizabeth's Count Your Blessings Challenge at Art Journal Journey

I'm blessed to have my good friend Hazel of Hazel's Creative Moments living nearby, and we regularly get together for a day of crafting. I also get my doggy fix with Hazel's gorgeous two black cocker spaniels Josh and Murphy.

I took my art prompt cards over to Hazel's house on Tuesday, and we had fun creating a couple of pages with them. This was my first page.

I was fortunate to win a set of Tim Holtz's Sealife stamps from Autumn of Sew Paper Paint, and used these on my page.

I'll be back tomorrow with the second page I created at Hazel's house.

Inspired By My Prompt Cards

Hi Everyone!

I have another journal page to share with Gill's 'Inspired By' Challenge at Art Journal Journey. This page was inspired by a few of the prompt cards that I made for myself last year. It's another page in my gelli-print journal, which provided a good start too, and I found a great quote to go with it from Tim Holtz's Small Talk stickers. That's my hand with the short stubby fingers by the way ;-)

Happy Friday,

Crazy Life Adventures

Hi Everyone!

Yesterday was a crazy day. First we learned that Carillion, the company my husband works for, went into liquidation. 😟  Then some great and exciting news, as I sold my first item, a crochet scarf, on Etsy. 😃  Then I discovered we had no heating or hot water when I went to wash my paintbrushes, as the boiler had packed up! 😨  At least it was fixable! Not sure what's going to happen with Graham's job, we're playing the waiting game!

Thank goodness I have art to take my mind off things. I used my art prompt cards to make this page.

I'm linking my page to the Art Journal Journey January Challenge,  New Year, New Adventures, and The Altered Booklover's Happy T-Day, as I used teabags. Might be resorting to some alcohol in my tea to warm me up, if the boiler doesn't get fixed today!

Hope you're having a good week so far,

Alison x

Take Time Out

Hello Folks!

Taking time out has never been a problem for me, but painting with string was a new thing! I learned that you need to put plenty of paint on the string. The blue paint lines are just about visible, as I was playing with my card prompts again, and more layers went on top. Here are the 10 prompts I used...

You can see the string printing a little better in the close-up photo.

Happy Friday!

Emotions Exposed

Hello All!

Not a lot of art has been made this week. Firstly, I've been reading The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith (aka J. K. Rowling). It's a really great yarn, and I thoroughly recommend it, as well as her first RG novel A Cuckoo's Calling. There's a third novel, Career of Evil, which I've got primed and ready. Secondly, my recently returned from uni daughter has been planning her gap year travels, to NZ, OZ, and SE Asia. The thought of her disappearing again, for 8 months, has left me a little low, having just got her back. But she assures me that she's sensible, and it'll be safe travel with friends and like-minded people. So that's the reason for the title of this page I made late last night.

It was the result of 18 of my art prompt cards, mainly to get my mojo back, and take my mind off of other matters. I'm linking up to Art Journal Journey's Colour In My World Challenge.

Happy Friday to you all,

Alison x

Art Journal Journey - Poetry in Motion

Morning Everyone!

I have a final page for Art Journal Journey's Poetry in Motion challenge to share today. I used my card prompts again, but only 10 this time, starting with a heart cut from a magazine, and finishing with scribble journaling. I did add the dried paint from my white paint tube, and some blue paint splatters as a finishing touch though.

The quote reads... 'Smile. It's the key that fits the lock of everybody's heart.' ... Anthony J. D'Angelo.

I hope you all have a wonderful day,

Alison x

Embrace The Detours

Hello Everyone!

I finally got around to playing with my new deck of art journaling prompts, and this page was the result. I randomly used 20 cards, the first of which was to splash tea or coffee on the page, and the final was to use a stamp. It was a fun process.

I was recently asked by Leisanne of Crimson Cricket blog what motivated me to create art. HERE is her first post in a series, which contains my answer. Basically, it makes me happy!

Wishing you all an artful day!

Art Journal Prompts Card Deck

Hello Everyone!

I've been wanting to make a deck of art journal card prompts for a while now, and the Everything Art Live Adventure page that I made last Saturday prompted me to get on with it. Excuse the pun!

I started by applying white paint to both sides of a deck of playing cards, using my 10x8 inch Gelli Plate. Next I used Dylusions paint and PaperArtsy Kim Dellow masks to print both sides of all the cards. I used a Fudeball black journaling pen then, to outline the stencilling. I typed out all the prompts on copier paper, cut them out and glued them to one side of each card, outlining them with the black pen too. I finished off by sponging the edges of the cards with black archival ink. I think they look amazing! I love the bright colours with Kim's gorgeous stencil designs!

I also got some pretty cool prints made for future use...

I can't wait to play with my cards, maybe this afternoon!

Wishing you all a very happy Friday!
