Inspired By...

Morning All! Today's page in my gelli-print journal was inspired by another YouTube video I watched, where the artist began by gluing down some teabag papers. Then 'The Flow' took over, and my page took a totally different direction to hers!

I added some torn tea-dyed book page strips and scraps, some hand-cut circles for the flower heads, then the doodling began with my paint pens.  You can just see the doodles on the flower heads, that I decided were too much, and painted over with Bougainvillea Fresco acrylic. The page needed some boldness!

Happy Friday!

Inspired By Dina Wakley

Hi Everyone! Today I'm sharing a page for Gill's challenge on Art Journal Journey, that was inspired by some Dina Wakley style art that I saw on Pinterest.

I'm still working in my gelli-print journal. On this page, I added a few marks with PaperArtsy Fresco acrylic paint, a Dina Wakley stamp, chunky Lego, plastic cross-stitch aida and a tube, then I adhered teabags, a Dina Wakley stamped image, lace, ball chain and quote. I finished with a scribbled border.

365 Somethings - Week 25

Hi Everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend, and enjoyed some lovely Summer sun.

I've got my Week 25 teabags for the 365 Somethings Challenge, to share with you today.

On this set, I started with a scrape of DecoArt Crackle Paste, then when it was dry I added a wash of DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic in Prussian Blue. I stencilled some Primary Magenta dots, stamped with a Lego piece and some Cadmium Orange Hue. I used a plastic tube to add some Prussian Blue circles, then attached some hand cut hearts and words, mounted over white thread. I circled the magenta dots with a black pen, and finished with white paint splatters.

Until next time,

Inspired By My Prompt Cards

Hi Everyone!

I have another journal page to share with Gill's 'Inspired By' Challenge at Art Journal Journey. This page was inspired by a few of the prompt cards that I made for myself last year. It's another page in my gelli-print journal, which provided a good start too, and I found a great quote to go with it from Tim Holtz's Small Talk stickers. That's my hand with the short stubby fingers by the way ;-)

Happy Friday,

She Believed She Could...

Hi Everyone!

First of all, let me share with you my Week 24 teabags for the 365 Somethings Challenge.

These teabags were started with a circle of book page and a smaller circle of gelli-printed tissue. I then scraped on some DecoArt crackle paste. Once that was dry, I stamped some PaperArtsy Hotpick images, first with Fresco Paint, then I over-stamped with black archival ink. I added some stamped quotes, then finished with some painty splatters.

I also created a journal page for Gill's Inspired By challenge at Art Journal Journey, which started off being inspired by a couple of YouTube videos I watched, then soon went off in another direction!

I started with another page in my gelli-print journal, adding collage scraps, and painty marks, then stamped a Dina Wakley Scribbly Woman, painted her a body etc., then added a quote.

Hope you've had a creative Monday too,

Alison xox

You Can Never Have Too Much Happy

Hello Folks! Today's art journal page was inspired by Tracy Evan's use of bead gel on a beautiful bag, in this post. I love bead gel, and it's been a while since I used it.

This page was created in my gelliprint journal, and it's on the other half of yesterday's page, and started off with the same design. It's amazing how the two pages are so different. I added lots of layers, including the stencilled Liquitex bead gel, scrapings of DecoArt Crackle Paste, PaperArtsy Infusions, bubblewrap printing with acrylic paint, and some of the lovely Golden Iridescent Bronze acrylic.

I shall of course be linking my page to Gill's 'Inspired By' challenge at Art Journal Journey

Happy Saturday!

Be Open...

Hello Everyone! I wasn't feeling inspired to art journal today, so I watched a couple of Tiffany of SouthernGalsDesigns' videos on YouTube. I love her free and easy style! I decided to use my gelliprint journal, so I already had something on the page, then shuffled my playing card prompts. I used about 8 cards. I already had some PaperArtsy Fresco acrylics on my desk, so I used those. Then I found a great Tim Holtz quote sticker which was perfect...'Be open to whatever comes next', and this is the result.

Happy Friday,

365 Somethings - Week 23

Hello Everyone! I have some more teabag art to share for week 23 of the 365 Somethings Challenge, and I think that brings me up to date.

I did a little background stamping using archival ink and a PaperArtsy Sara Naumann stamp set, and also printed with white acrylic paint and my plastic aida circle (this is normally used for cross stitch, as enquired by Eileen). I then used black acrylic through a fine nozzle to draw some flowers, and painted them with acrylic. I finished with some white paint pen doodles and partially stamped words.

Wishing you all a happy and creative day,

Alison xox

365 Somethings - Week 22

Hello Everyone! I'm still catching up with my teabag art for I Hanna and Daisy Yellow's 365 somethings challenge on Instagram. Here are my seven teabags for week 22.

For these teabags, I added a hand torn circle of tea stained book page, then stamped images from PaperArtsy Ink & Dog (my favourite stamp range from PaperArtsy). To make the words stand out, I stamped them onto unstained book page, cut them out and glued in place. Some are part of the image, and some not. Here's a close up of one of my favourite images...

I'm entering these in Country View Crafts 'Written Word' Chalenge, as they have book text and stamped words.

I've got a couple more weeks of teabags to do, then I'm up to date, and then I'll be back in my art journal again. I've missed it so much!

Happy Wednesday!

T Stands for Peppermint Tea, Strawberries, and 365 Somethings Week 21

Hello Everyone! I'm back from another week's holiday, this time we stayed by Lake Bled in Slovenia. We enjoyed lots of lovely hikes of course, and some great weather for it. We'll definitely return there, as it's a beautiful place. And yesterday, my husband started his new job, after being made redundant at the end of March. So he was fortunate and not unemployed for too long thankfully.

As it's Elizabeth's T-Day today, I'm showing my yummy, mid-morning peppermint tea, with some delicious strawberries picked from our garden. Luckily the birds and slugs hadn't got too many whilst we were away! I'll be having them with some greek yoghurt later :-)

I'm a little behind with my 365 Somethings for I Hanna and Daisy Yellow's Instagram challenge, but I've decorated seven teabags for week 21, and there'll be more to follow in the next few days.

I first painted them with white gesso, then added some turquoise acrylic paint with my fingers. Then I printed with green acrylic, using a plastic aida circle. I added washi tape, torn book page, and stamped and painted images by France Papillon and Birgit Koopsen. I finished with some black ink splatters.

Wishing you all a very happy Tuesday T-Day!

Art Journal Calendar - June 2018

Hello Everyone!

As it's the first of June, I have my calendar page for this month to share with you. Over at Art Journal Journey, Gill from Gibbyfrogettcraftations has challenged us to be 'Inspired By' someone or something. The background of my calendar was inspired by some tags made by Joyce Shaulis, that I saw in Mixed Up magazine.

I used DecoArt Media Acrylic paints with some PaperArtsy Ellen Vargo stamps. The journalling circles were stamped onto some gelli-printed book pages, cut out, then glued on. I added doodles and dots around them.

Happy June!
