Try It On Tuesday - Small Things

 Hello All.

I'm delighted to tell you that I am the guest designer for Try It On Tuesday's new theme of Small Things.

I created an ATC for the challenge.

My base is a Stampbord ATC, which I coloured with Distress Inks. I stamped the Tim Holtz fairy children, then used Crafty Individuals stamps to create their garden, and used a script stamp to add interest to the grass and sky. I used coloured pencil to add more colour, then finished with some found words from a book page, and a few black paint splatters.

Please head over to Try It On Tuesday to see the team's wonderful artwork. I do hope you'll join in with the challenge.

Ugly Art Club Challenge

 Hello All.

I'm still making junk journal pages using The Ugly Art Club's 5 minute Challenge prompts, but I haven't been timing my art this week. They are fairly quick pages, but taking more than 5 minutes. I don't like to leave them looking ugly either.

Here are this week's pages...

Day 4 - Blackout

Day 5 - Pink

Day 6 - Fungi

Day 7 - Botanical

Day 8 - Ruffle

Day 9 - Creepy

Day 10 - Stitch. I'm sharing this page with Neet's Fur or Feathers theme at Art Journal Journey. It took me way over the 5 minutes!

Thanks for visiting. I'm hoping to visit a few of your blogs today. I don't know where this last week went!

Hugs,

Alison

Try It On Tuesday - Summer Blooms

Hello Everyone!

There's a new challenge theme of 'Summer Blooms' over at Try It On Tuesday, and I'm thrilled to be their guest designer for the next fortnight.

Here's the art journal page that I created for the theme.

I created the background and flowers using some of the collage fodder I made recently for Collage Kickstart, and finished with some found text from a book page, and some white ink splatters.

I hope you'll be inspired to pop along to see all of the team's beautiful artwork at Try It On Tuesday, and join in with the Summer Blooms challenge.

Thanks for visiting,

Alison

Daisy Yellow Art ICAD Challenge - Week 9

 Hi Everyone.

I have my final six ICADs to share with you today. I created a little series for these final few, using some recently made collage fodder, security envelopes, music paper, corrugated card, and found text from a book.

Here are my July ICADs. I couldn't fit them all into one photo, so there are two.

As usual, it's been a fun challenge working on these 6x4 inch index cards. Thank you all for cheering me along the way, I really appreciate your comments.

Daisy Yellow Art ICAD Challenge - Week 7

 Hello All.

Phew! It's so hot here at the moment, we're really not geared up for 40degC temperatures in the UK! I've been lying on the sofa reading/listening to books the last couple of days, but I thought I should get a blog post done. Fortunately, my art room where my lap top is, is the coolest room in the house.

I have some more ICADs to share with you today, for week 7 of Tammy's Daisy Yellow Art Challenge.

Our daughter Beth recently got an award for being one of the top 50 female engineers in the country, for innovation and invention in 2022. Here she is with her dad, who is a civil engineer, and inspired her to go into engineering. Beth joined Rolls Royce's graduate scheme whilst at uni, and now works for them in Bristol, in aviation. She is on the WISE(Women in Science & Engineering) board, and loves to encourage other young women into engineering. Needless to say, her dad and I are super proud of her.

Thanks for visiting me today. I'm off to lie down with a book again now!

Daisy Yellow Index Card A Day Challenge - Week Two

 Hello All.

I know I said I would post these on Mondays, but here they are, just a couple of days late.

Life has been getting in the way of art lately. We just had a tiring but lovely, long weekend at our daughter's new home, the ground floor flat of a Victorian house, helping her to get the garden in a fit shape for a summer of parties and BBQs. It was lovely to visit Bristol finally, she's been living there over two years now. It's a beautiful city, and she loves it.

So here are my week two ICADs.

Day 7 - I actually used the prompt, which was 'ROOT'.

Day 8

Day 9

Day 10

Day 11

Day 12

Day 13

I'm enjoying doing some collage art again, hope you enjoy seeing them 😊

Thanks for visiting. I hope to do some visiting of your blogs too.

Technique 1 - Draw a face with your non-dominant hand.

Technique 2 - Make marks with any type of packaging.

I'm linking my page to Elizabeth and Bleubeard's What's your style theme at Art Journal Journey.

February Journal Recipe Day 7

 Hi Everyone.

It's Day 7 of February Journal Recipe, my Instagram collaboration with Shilpa, and here are today's prompts...

Colour - Purple.

Shape - Triangle.

Technique 1 - Use a face cut out of a magazine.

Technique 2 - Print with cardboard.

As before, you must use at least 3 prompts on your page.

Here's what I came up with...

This one was tricky, as I don't use purple very often, but it does look rather fab with the orange. For the triangles, I used a stencil, a piece of stamp carving rubber cut into a triangle shape, and I folded a piece of cardboard for the gold triangles.

I created the magazine lady a gown and hat, with pieces of a gel print and some gold trim. Then I used some text from a book page to finish.

I think you'll agree this is another page in my style (apart from the purple!), so I'm linking it to Elizabeth and Bleubeard's What's Your Style theme at Art Journal Journey.

Thanks for all the lovely comments you're leaving, I really appreciate them.

February Journal Recipe Day 5

 Hello Everyone.

It's Day 5 of my February Journal Recipe Instagram collaboration challenge with Shilpa, and here are today's prompts...

Colour - Orange.

Shape - Scallops.

Splash tea or coffee on your page.

Doodle with a pen or pencil.

You must use a minimum of 3 prompts on your page.

Here's my page for the challenge...

There are teabags in my background, and diluted coffee for the drips and splatters. I used a couple of my hand-carved stamps too, for the face of my lady and for the scallops. I had a lot of fun with this page, I think it's one of my favourites. My lady's hat and hair is a piece of sari ribbon.

I'm linking up to Elizabeth and Bleubeard's What's Your Style theme at Art Journal Journey.

Thanks for visiting today,

February Journal Recipe Day 2

Hello All.

Today's prompts for February Journal Recipe are...

Colour - Yellow

Shape - Rectangle

Techniques - Apply paint with a lid

Splash water drips on your page

Here's my page.

Yellow isn't a colour I use much, but I really like it combined with black and white.

For the water drips, I painted the black rectangles, then added the water drips. I waited until the paint was nearly dry, then blotted the water. It takes practise to time it just right, but the resist effect is amazing.

Erika asked if I could run this challenge on blogland, but I don't know how to do that. If you do want to take part, just come back and leave me a comment, and I'll come and visit.

I'm linking my abstract style page to Elizabeth & Bleubeard's What's Your Style theme at Art Journal Journey.

Thanks for coming by today.
