52 Weeks Art Journal - Week 51 - Keep It Simple

 Hello Everyone.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. We got to see our two children, which was so precious after last Christmas. They've both been vaccinated and boostered, and did their Covid tests, so it felt reasonably safe.

Today I have managed to get back in my art room, and I created a couple of art journal pages. I'm sharing the page I made for week 51 of Raspberry Blue Sky's 52 Weeks Art Journal challenge. Keep it simple was the prompt.

52 Weeks Art Journal - Week 48 - Roots

Hello Everyone.

Here is my week 48 page for Michelle/RaspberryBlueSky's 52 Weeks Art Journal Challenge. The theme for this page is 'Roots'.

 I started with a layer of collage and a light application of white acrylic paint, then I used a PaperArtsy Mini stamp 'La Porte Bleue' for my door, and sketched and painted the house and roots around it. It looks a tiny bit spooky, but that wasn't my intention.

 Hi Everyone.

I dusted off some of my favourite Lost Coast stamps to create an enchanted scene in my art journal. It looks like they are having a party in the woods. Hopefully there's a pool nearby for the mermaid fairy to take a dip.

Gratitude Day 2 and Week 44 of 52 Weeks Art Journal

 Hello All.

I love it when I can combine a couple of challenges/classes in one piece of art. 

For Day 2 of Gratitude Junk Journal, we used a phrase or quote that someone had inspired us with, and that we adhered to. I thought of the phrase 'Life Is Too Short'. I can't remember where I first heard it, but it's something I say a lot.

And the prompt for week 44 of Raspberry Blue Sky's 52 Weeks Art Journal challenge is 'Get Messy'. This prompt could have been made for me! Grin! I think that life is too short to make neat and tidy art. More grinning!

Here's my page...

I used a few pieces of collage I had in my collage fodder basket, including the half face sketch, that was left over from a class a while ago. I used a palette knife to scrape Seaglass Fresco Finish acrylic over, sketched some leaves, added some stencilled fabric strips and diluted coffee, wrote my quote, then added splashes of neon pink acrylic ink. I also painted the lips with the pink ink. So yummy!!!

Here's a bundle of fabric collage fodder I made this week, using acrylic paint and stencils on strips of gauze bandage. I used a dotty one on my page above.

 Hello Everyone.

This week's prompt for 52 Week's Art Journal is 'Today's Colour Palette'. I've been out for an Autumn walk, and also visited a garden centre that had its Christmas decorations on display. So my page's colours reflect Autumn and Christmas colours.

 Hello Everyone.

It's week 42 of Raspberry Blue Sky's 52 Weeks Art Journal Challenge, and the theme this week is 'Autumn Inspired'.

I had the watercolour leaves, quote and some papers left over from Leaca Young's Life Book taster class, and I layered them with some sari ribbon and collage papers to create my Autumn inspired page.

 Hello All. I hope you're having a good weekend.

Today I'm sharing my latest page for Raspberry Blue Sky's 52 Weeks Art Journal challenge. This week (no.41) the theme was Vintage.

I used the October prompts from the Take5Art challenge on Instagram. They were Muted Colours, Crayons, Book Pages, Plants, Something see-through. You can see through the piece of teabag paper and the security envelope window. I used my Stabilo Woodys crayons for the colours.

52 Weeks Art Journal - Week 40 - Sunday Morning

Hello All.

Here's my Sunday Morning page for week 40 of Raspberry Blue Sky's 52 Weeks Art Journal challenge.

My Sunday mornings involve an early walk, then after breakfast it's our church zoom service. The church has opened up again, but fortunately they are still showing it online for us vulnerable folks.

My page started with some torn collage fodder, then I used oil pastel pencils to sketch Autumn trees and leaves for our walk, and a cross to symbolise church. I wrote the title with black and white ink, then finished with black and white ink splatters.

Some of you asked about the hedgehogs on my last art journal page. They were indeed the stamps that I carved myself.

52 Weeks Art Journal - Week 38 - Dreamweaver

 Hello Everyone.

Today I have just one page to share with you, you'll be pleased to hear. It's my 'Dreamweaver' page for week 38 of Raspberry Blue Sky's 52 Weeks Art Journal challenge.

My page already had some leftover paint brayered onto it. I added some woven collage fodder, then the butterfly lady and some Tim Holtz phrase stickers. I did some pencil outlining, then finished with the stencilled gold stars.

52 Weeks Art Journal - 33/52 - Embrace The Moment

 Hello All.

Here's my week 33 page for Raspberry Blue Sky's 52 Weeks Art Journal Challenge.

This page started off with some leftover blue paint on it, and I added some pieces of collage. I schmooshed on some paint, and used a PaperArtsy stencil and a wet cloth to remove some of it. I stencilled the birds with the PaperArtsy stencil, then added flowers, foliage and the figure with Dina Wakley stamps and paint, and wrote the quote with a paint pen. I added some white pen outlines, then white, black and gold splatter.

52 Weeks Art Journal - Weeks 31 & 32

 Hello Everyone. I have two pages to share today for Raspberry Blue Sky's 52 Weeks Art Journal challenge. I completely forgot to share last week's page. 

Week 31 - Creative Chaos. I was crafting via Messenger video with my mate Nicky aka Minxy, and I decided to use my handmade prompt cards for my page to get an unplanned result. Nicky consulted Alexa, who picked '7' as the number of cards to use. And the last prompt was 'use a stamp', so Nicky told me to use a Dina Wakley face or figure. It turned out to be great creative chaos. 

Week 32 - Collage. It was my Thursday crafting date with Nicky via Messenger video again, and this time we both made a page using my prompt cards. Alexa gave us 8 as the number of prompts to use this time. Luckily the first prompt was to use magazine images of a man and woman, so I was able to link to the collage theme. Coffee was one of the prompts, I hadn't used that in a while. I finished with some found text, which fitted quite nicely with the images. The man is off to play golf with his chums, and his wife doesn't appear displeased with that fact! I wonder what she has planned 😂

52 Weeks Art Journal - Week 30 - 15 Minute Art

Hello Everyone.

This week Michelle/RaspberryBlueSky challenged us to create a page in 15 minutes.

 I began as I usually do, with a bit of collage. I scraped some turquoise paint over this, then sketched the flower with black ink, letting it drip. I love a drip or three! I added some butterflies, the three phrase stickers, used a Stabilo All black pencil to outline, and finished with white paint splashes. When I'd finished, I was thrilled to noticed that I'd created a rhyme with the words 😁

52 Weeks Art Journal - Week 29 - Mindfulness

 Hello All.

This week Michelle/RaspberryBlueSky's art journal theme is Mindfulness.

To begin, I enjoyed some mindfulness moments gluing down some collage on my page.

Then I used my fingers to add some acrylic paint colour. I added some fingerprint marks, and some very loose swirls and asemic writing. I'm still being extra careful with my tennis elbow. 

I added some watery white paint drips, then stamped my hand-carved pebbles to create a cairn, topping it with my hand-carved bird. I finished with some pieces of torn teabag paper, and white paint splashes.

This page reminds me of summer holidays spent hiking in the Lake District, and seeing the beautiful rock and pebble cairns people have built. I always like to add a pebble to them as we pass by. Time to rest my arm again now.
