52 Weeks Art Journal - Week 29 - Mindfulness

 Hello All.

This week Michelle/RaspberryBlueSky's art journal theme is Mindfulness.

To begin, I enjoyed some mindfulness moments gluing down some collage on my page.

Then I used my fingers to add some acrylic paint colour. I added some fingerprint marks, and some very loose swirls and asemic writing. I'm still being extra careful with my tennis elbow.

I added some watery white paint drips, then stamped my hand-carved pebbles to create a cairn, topping it with my hand-carved bird. I finished with some pieces of torn teabag paper, and white paint splashes.

This page reminds me of summer holidays spent hiking in the Lake District, and seeing the beautiful rock and pebble cairns people have built. I always like to add a pebble to them as we pass by. I'm linking my page to Alison's Summer Countryside theme at Art Journal Journey, and to Try It On Tuesday's Feathered Friends theme.

Time to rest my arm again now.

Thanks for visiting today,

Alison xox

  4. Gluing paper scraps is so relaxing, isn't it? The final result looks great. I can see why you think of the rock Cairns from your design. Hope you're having a great week. Hugs-Erika

  5. Wow, Alison, the difference between the first photo and the second is amazing. I had a hard time believing it was even the same page. I love the little bird and the cairns you created on this page. It is beautiful and perfect for Alison's theme at Art Journal Journey, too.

  10. Oh wow, what a difference some paint makes to a page. I love your journal page and, today, funnily enough, someone had built little cairns on the beach with some of the stones

  12. I rather like the collage in the first photo with all the interesting bits and then to see it in the second photo was fascinating too, I could hardly think it was the same page. I love the way you used your hand-carved pebbles with the bird on top.

  13. Simply delightful - I can feel the calm and serenity in this page. I love the pebble cairn and the bird perched on top, and also those lovely white droplets streaking down the page. Lovely, lovely, lovely. Thanks so much for joining us in the Summer Countryside again at Art Journal Journey.

  14. Fabulous page! I always want to try this technique but for some reason I can never bring myself to paint over the collaged papers ...lol 😉. Maybe one day! Loving the transparency of the paints with the collaged papers showing through and your design with the little bird is perfect! Thank you for joining in the fun at Try it on Tuesday and sending you happy wishes! Hugs, Jo x

  15. Well, I could have gazed at your glued down background for awhile! I love covering the page that way before beginning. I've been known to create some very cool pages using masking tape in a similar fashion, quite textural. Your finished page is gorgeous and makes a fine summer countryside entry, I think. XOX
