Letters, Beach & Waving

 Hello All.

I have my final pages to share for Elle's EOTCJournalAugust challenge.

Day 29 - Letters.

I went with letters of the alphabet for my page. It kind of looks to me like the bird is called Bob :D

I'm linking this page to Neet's Fur or Feathers theme at Art Journal Journey.

Days 30 & 31 - Beach & Waving.

I thought I'd combine these two prompts into one page. I gessoed the page, then painted the beach scene with watercolours. adding extra layers of colour to create depth.

Is the person in the sea waving to his friend to come and join him, or is he in trouble?

Thanks to Elle for setting the prompts for this challenge. It was fun.

Journal August Days 19 & 20

 Hello All.

I hope you're having a good weekend. I had a busy day yesterday, cleaning out the guinea pig and tortoises, but I found time in the afternoon to catch up with Elle/Empire of the Cat's Journal August challenge. I made these two pages.

Day 19 - Compass.

I used a Tim Holtz compass stamp on a glassine envelope, with some bits and pieces from my collage fodder box. I made a little tag to pop in the envelope.

Day 20 - Journey.

I started to rip up a local map page to start this page off, then spotted that the restaurant (The Knowle) where we had our wedding meal 31 years ago was on the map. This inspired me to use a wedding theme for my page, with the quote 'The wedding day is only the start of a life-long journey'.

I outlined The Knowle with a black pen, it's about two thirds down the right-hand side of my page. 😊

Obviously I was quite a lot younger when we were wed, so I'm linking my wedding page to Chris' When we were young theme at Art Journal Journey.

Thanks for visiting, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend.

And...Relax

 Hello All.

I thought I'd try and join in with Elle of Empire of the Cat's August Journal Challenge. It's been going for a couple of weeks, so I decided I'd start with Elle's Day 13 prompt of 'Relax'.

My favourite way to relax is with a good book. I've been reading a lot lately, with the weather being so hot.

I made myself a junk journal to work in, using collage fodder, envelopes and junk mail for my pages, with a cardboard cover.

The music sheet page already had blue paint on it. I added some torn teabag paper, doll images from a magazine, then some hand-drawn books and my stamped words.

I've loved reading books since I was very young, Enid Blyton was my favourite author back then. Nowadays it's Jojo Moyes, Victoria Hyslop, Diana Gabaldon, Ken Follett, Barbara Erskine, Kate Mosse, amongst many others.

I'm also linking my page to Chris' When We Were Young theme at Art Journal Journey.

Thanks for visiting me today,

Alison

February Journal Recipe Day 4

Hello All.

It's Day 4 of February Journal Recipe Instagram Challenge, and here are today's prompts...

Colour - Green

Shape - Use connected circles.

Paint some black marks.

Doodle a border around your page.

You should use a minimum of 3 prompts on your page, and have fun!

Here's my page for the challenge...

This page started with a collage of mostly green pieces of gelprints. I used white acrylic and bubble wrap to print on the page, and used a lid to make the circles. I added some painted black marks, used magazine words for the title, then doodled around the edges.

It's another page in my style to link to Elizabeth and Bleubeard's What's Your Style theme at Art Journal Journey.

Thanks for the lovely comments you've all been leaving for these pages, they're very much appreciated.

Hugs,

Alison

February Journal Recipe Day 2

Hello All.

Today's prompts for February Journal Recipe are...

Colour - Yellow

Shape - Rectangle

Techniques - Apply paint with a lid

Splash water drips on your page

Here's my page.

Yellow isn't a colour I use much, but I really like it combined with black and white.

For the water drips, I painted the black rectangles, then added the water drips. I waited until the paint was nearly dry, then blotted the water. It takes practise to time it just right, but the resist effect is amazing.

Erika asked if I could run this challenge on blogland, but I don't know how to do that. If you do want to take part, just come back and leave me a comment, and I'll come and visit.

I'm linking my abstract style page to Elizabeth & Bleubeard's What's Your Style theme at Art Journal Journey.

Thanks for coming by today.

February Journal Recipe Instagram Challenge

 Hello Everyone.

Towards the end of last year, my online friend Shilpa Nagaronkar asked me if I'd like to do an Instagram challenge collaboration with her.

Shilpa and I have known each other for about 10 years, since we were on The Artistic Stamper design team.

I agreed to the challenge at once, and came up with some prompts and a title. We decided to do a February challenge. Unfortunately, Shilpa got Covid in January, so we're a little late in starting, and today is Day One.

Day One's prompts are...

The colour red,

Square shapes,

Paint some lines,

and Use watercolours.

If you use Instagram and you'd like to join in, the hashtag is februaryjournalrecipe.

Here's my page for Day One's challenge.

I made an abstract style page, and I'm linking it to Elizabeth and Bleubeard's What's Your Style theme at Art Journal Journey.

Thanks for visiting me today.

28 Hearts Instagram Challenge 1-7

 Hello All.

I found an Instagram challenge for February, which just involves posting a heart a day. I decided to create 28 watercolour hearts, and I'm attaching them to my favourite round teabags. I've also added quotes inspired by Love Hearts sweets

Here are my first 7 hearts.

Thanks for dropping by today, have a great new week.
