Autumn Pages & A Special Card

Hi Everyone.

I have a couple of Autumn themed art journal pages to share, that I failed to get posted on Art Journal Journey. We went away on holiday and time just ran away from me.

And here's the card I made for our daughter Beth, who has just celebrated her 30th birthday. Gosh that makes me feel old!

I used a Tim Holtz abstract faces die and a fab tutorial by Pete Hughes of Sizzix to create Frieda Kahlo.

Thanks so much for dropping by,

It's The Birthday Month

I have a few family and friends' birthday in May, including my own, and also my wedding anniversary, it's a busy month.

I made two similar cards for our mums, who share the same birthday.

And here's the card I made for my husband.

Hopefully I'll find some art journaling time soon.

Thanks for coming by.

365 Somethings 99-110, some Crochet, and a Birthday Card

 Hello Friends.

It's been a couple of weeks since I last posted. I've had some health issues and hospital visits to deal with, but I'm getting through it the best I can. Autoimmune diseases are a pain!

I'm still trying to keep up with my collages, so here are another 3 sets of them for Daisy Yellow Art's 365 Somethings challenge.

I've also been crocheting various things for a man at my church to take out to Ukraine, hats, scarves, blankets, and recently some bright and cheery flower brooches. We've started a little knitting and crochet group at church to do this.

Finally, here's a first birthday card I made for my friend's little grandson. I knitted a cardigan for him too, but silly me forgot to take a photo.

 Thanks for visiting today.

TIOT - Butterflies

 Hello All!

Thank you so much for all the lovely birthday messages! I really appreciated them!

The weather hasn't improved much today, and I've managed to get a few projects made. I'm sharing one today, which is a card for the new Butterflies theme at Try It On Tuesday.

It's not often that I do clean and simple. I used stamps by Crafty Individuals.

The beautiful butterfly collage is stamped and clear embossed onto white card, then matted onto black card, then adhered to an A6 white card blank.

I stamped the butterflies again on a scrap of white card, coloured them with Distress Oxide ink, cut them out, applied glue to the bodies, then adhered them to the image. They can flap their wings if they wish ;-)

I finished with a stamped CI birthday message.

I hope you're all having a good week so far.

Thanks for visiting,

Some Cards For Men

 Hello All!

I used to struggle with making cards for my male friends and family members, but these days I just grab some of PaperArtsy's Ink and the Dog stamps. They have some really great images. Here are a few cards I recently had to make.

I used Distress Oxide Sprays for some of the cards, washi tapes, and some gold trim that I've had for a very long time. There are some gold ink splatters on the card below, although it's not very visible.

This next card is a re-purposed one with gold trim and a birthday message added. It was originally a Father's Day card. That rugby team stamp is very handy for the rugby fans in my family.

I'm saving the next card for Hubby's birthday next month. It's ok, he never looks at my blog 😀

Thanks for dropping by today,

Big hugs,

Creative JumpStart Day 15

 Hello All!

Carolyn Dube's lesson was on Day 15 of CJS. I love Carolyn's use of colour, this was right up my street.

I'm linking this page to Erika's Favourite Things theme at Art Journal Journey.

Before I go, here's a card I was commissioned to make by a neighbour. I used papers and flowers from an Anna Griffin kit that I bought long ago.

Thanks for popping by my blog.

More Birthday Cards

I'm back with a couple of birthday cards today.

This one was another commission from my neighbour. I used a Crafty Individual stamp with a Brusho background.

And this card is for a lovely young man, my best friend's son, who is a very talented sewer. He's off to study textile art in September at college. I had to put some stitching on his card, and I used PaperArtsy stamps and some of my monoprints.

Thanks for dropping by,

Cards for Men and Children

Hello! I'm back with a couple more commissioned cards for one of my neighbours.

This little handbag card is for another neighbour's grand-daughter.

And here's a card for a chap who likes rugby and collects cigarette cards. I made a pocket to put the duplicate little card in, so that he could keep it.

Some More Cards

My mum had a special birthday on Sunday, she was 80. We weren't able to visit her, but we made her day special with a family zoom chat. My daughter also wrote a special song, had us all record ourselves singing it, adding special messages, then put it all together in a lovely video. Mum was very moved by it.

Here's the card I made for my mum.

My mother-in-law shares the same birthday, and I made a similar card for her, with her favourite colours.

My little cottage industry continues with some more card orders from my neighbours.

A 40th birthday card.

And two more sympathy cards.

Thanks for visiting,

Birthday Cards

Hello lovely followers!

I had a couple of birthday cards to make this week, this first one is for a sweet little lady who turned one on International Women's Day. She's already a seasoned traveller, as her parents are from Australia, and her mum is currently studying in the UK.

And this one is for my nephew. He'll be 28 on St. Patrick's Day. I'm pretty sure he doesn't read my blog, so I think I'm safe to post.

And finally, after getting a few spam comments recently, I've decided to add comment moderation to my blog. Such a pain!

Have a happy and creative day,

Alison xox

AJJ - We're All... Being Random

Hi Everyone. Not much has happened in the craft room this week. I did paint a little dinosaur card for my friend's grandson who is 5 years old today.

On a gel plate print, I sketched the dinosaur from a picture, then painted it black and added white and orange details. Then I added a hand-written message with my Posca paint pens. Hopefully he'll like it, he's dinosaur mad, and knows all their names!

Today, I decided it's been too long since I art journalled, so I got out my pack of art prompt cards, and here's what happened...

These are the prompts I used...

1. Cut a picture or face from a magazine and adhere.
2. Add white circles or marks.
3. Trace your hand.
4. Draw a quick self-portrait.
5. Use a stencil.
6. Scribble randomly on page.
7. Apply paint with a lid.
8. Use watercolour paint.
9. Add some doodling.
10. Use metallic paint to make marks.
11. Add paint fingerprints.
12. Do some scribble journalling.

Happy 80th Birthday Dad

Morning Everyone!

It's my wonderful Dad's 80th birthday today.

Yesterday, my Dad, Mum, Brother, Sister, and all our families went out for a meal to celebrate Dad's birthday. It was lovely to catch up with everyone, and we had a great day.

I made Dad a birthday card naturally. He used to always be tinkering with cars, and even built his own car once. He loves to watch sport and motor racing, and played rugby as a young man, so I incorporated these interests into his card.

Those Tim Holtz gears and Finnabair nuts and bolts came in handy for the '80', and the cigarette cards and papers were from my papercrafting days. I used PaperArtsy Everything Art alphabet stamps for 'DAD'.

My Dad, Mum, Brother, Sister & Hubby, and I, are off to celebrate Dad's birthday with a pub lunch again today.

Hope you all have a wonderful day too,

Alison xox

Mixed Media Birthday Card

Hi Everyone! Tonight I have a birthday card to share with you, that I made for my very best friend Karen.

I used to enjoy cross stitching a few years ago until the mixed media art took over, and I recently found a few little pieces I'd made. I had intended to make cards with them, but they got forgotten. Anyway, I picked this little garden bench picture that I knew my friend would love, and teamed it up with a gelli print.

Can you spot the tiny butterflies? I'm going to enter my card at the Moo Mania & More 'Butterflies' Challenge.

Happy week!

Birthday and Valentine's Day Cards

Hello Everyone! I'm shivering as I write this, as we still have no heating and hot water. Our boiler has been officially declared dead and unsafe, so Hubby is busy getting quotes for a new one. Brrr!!!

I tried to warm up yesterday, by making a few commissioned cards(didn't work, but it took my mind off it!)

A birthday card, using Craftwork Cards and DCWV products...

Valentine's card, made with stamps Artistic Stamper and Tim Holtz stamps, and Dylusions paint (mostly)

and two cards made with Dylusion paint, and stamps by Dina Wakley and PaperArtsy.

Hope you are warm and having a good week,

Alison x
