366 Somethings - Week 13

Hi Everyone! I hope that you're all well. I was feeling a bit down today if I'm honest. I made myself go into my craft studio to create today's index card collage. I'm glad that I have this daily incentive to create a little piece of art, or I might spend all day watching TV.

So here are my collaged index cards for week 13 of the 366 Somethings Challenge...

It's hard to pick my favourites amongst this week's efforts, 86, 87, 88 and 90 maybe. I think my technique is definitely evolving, but of course, some days I'm more inspired than others.

Sending you all elbow hugs (to coin a phrase from Nicole!)

Love and blessings,

Hope

Hi Everyone! It doesn't feel like there's a lot of hope at the moment, but we mustn't give up. We will come out of the other side of this!

Eileen's Green theme at Art Journal Journey will be ending tomorrow, so I thought I'd create a final page in my journal. I used a hessian page, and cut some scallops on the edge, then gathered some collage materials.

Who knew that Bombay India Ink would crackle on top of Mod Podge?! I hope you can see this in the photo below.

And here's a final close up of my doodling and message.

Thanks for visiting and keep safe,

I think today's collage (no.84) is my favourite of this week. How about you?

Soothe Me Art Journaling - Bonus Prompt

Happy new week everyone!

On this beautiful and sunny Spring day, I have my final page for Kasia's Soothe Me Art Journaling to share with you. This is the Day 8 bonus prompt, using a technique with black ink. I first painted a background with red, pink, orange and yellow Fresco acrylic paint, scraping the paint on with a store card.

You add a blob of black ink, place a piece of paper or cloth on top to spread the blob out. Let it dry a little, then add some water and blot up ink with a clean cloth or kitchen towel. I found this quite addictive, although it takes a bit of practise. The first time I let the ink dry too much.

I finished my page with some white Posca paint pen dots and some journaling.

I'm linking my page to Mia and Ana's Craftlandia Challenge.

Keep smiling and washing your hands!

Love & blessings,

Soothe Me Art Journaling Day Seven

Happy Mothering Sunday to all those mothers in the UK.

It's a strange one this year, as we are all self-isolating, but I had lovely video chats with my children and my mum and dad, so I don't feel I missed out too much. And Hubby is cooking us a nice roast dinner, so I'm looking forward to that.

I've been making art, and I have my day 7 page for Soothe Me Art Journaling to share with you. The prompt was to work on a dark background.

The challenge only lasted 7 days, but there was a bonus 8th prompt which I'll be doing tomorrow.

Love and blessings,

Soothe Me Art Journaling Day Six

Hi Everyone! I can't believe it's 5pm. I've spent nearly all day in my art studio! It's been lovely.

The prompt for Day 6 of Kasia's Soothe Me Art Journaling challenge was meditative repetitive mark making. I found it very soothing indeed. Here's my page.

I hope you're all managing to keep calm, safe and well. So far our self-isolation hasn't been too bad. Getting into a routine has helped...get up...feed the pets...make art...go for a long walk...relax with TV and crochet in the evening...go to bed with a good book :-) A few chores are thrown in for good measure, but not too many ;-)

Thanks for visiting,

Soothe Me Art Journaling - Day Five

Hi Everyone!

Day 5 of Soothe Me Art Journaling - Ugly page alert! Spent a long time fiddling and looking at this, wondering what to do, then realised it's all about the process and it doesn't need to be pretty. Probably a reflection of how I'm feeling anyway, and good to get it out into my art journal.

Love and blessings to you all,

Alison xox

Soothe Me Art Journaling Day Four

Hello lovely followers!

Here's my art journal page for day 4 of Kasia's Soothe Me Art Journaling challenge.

This page started with a wash of yellow watercolour, then I sketched the vines with a Stabilo all surface black pencil. I used a wet paintbrush to remove colour from the leaves, then added orange watercolour marks, then outlines and journaling with a black Sakura gel pen.

Hope you're having a happy and creative day,

Alison xox

Soothe Me Art Journaling - Day Three

Hello Again! Here's my second post of the day.

I made another page in my art journal for Eileen's 'Green' theme at Art Journal Journey, following Kasia's Day 3 prompts for Soothe Me Art Journaling.

This page started with layers of collage, then I added the leafy branch, some red marks, painty drips and splatters, and a journaled border, writing about my lovely walk today.

Did you spot the teabag texture on my page?

Thanks for dropping by,

Alison xox

Soothe Me Art Journaling Day Two

Hi Everyone! I hope that you are keeping well. I'm so grateful for my creative hobbies, they really help to soothe away my anxiety. I'm glad that I can still get out and enjoy my walks in the countryside at the moment too.

I have another art journal page to share with you today, following the prompts on Kasia's Day Two Soothe Me Art Journaling. The page started with layers of watercolour paint marks, before I added some heavy white gesso, Posca paint pen doodles, teabags, scribble journaling and splatters.

Wishing you a happy and creative day.

Keep smiling,

Alison xox

Art Soothes The Soul

Hi Everyone!

I have an art journal page to share today, that I'm linking to Eileen's 'Green' theme at Art Journal Journey. The page started with various green inks, before I added lots of other media.

Kasia from Everything Art is running a week long challenge on Facebook and Instagram, with prompts to soothe our souls. It's called Soothe Me Art Journaling. The challenge started last friday, but I only spotted it yesterday, so I'm a few days behind. This is my page for day one.

I hope you're all managing to keep calm and carry on creating.

Birthday Cards

Hello lovely followers!

I had a couple of birthday cards to make this week, this first one is for a sweet little lady who turned one on International Women's Day. She's already a seasoned traveller, as her parents are from Australia, and her mum is currently studying in the UK.

And this one is for my nephew. He'll be 28 on St. Patrick's Day. I'm pretty sure he doesn't read my blog, so I think I'm safe to post.

And finally, after getting a few spam comments recently, I've decided to add comment moderation to my blog. Such a pain!

Have a happy and creative day,

Alison xox

366 Somethings Week Ten

Hello Everyone! Here are my week 10 collaged index cards for the 366 Somethings challenge. I can't believe I've made 70 collages already! I'm still loving the challenge. A wee bit of art every day feels so good.

Which one is your favourite? I think 66 and 69 are mine, with their pieces of Christmas cracker.

Thanks for dropping by,

AJJ - Green

Happy Friday Everyone! I have a page in my Dina Wakley journal to share today, created for Eileen's Green theme at Art Journal Journey.

As you all know, I've been using up scraps on my collaged index cards lately. I decided to use a few of my green coloured scraps on this page, adhering them down, then scraping DecoArt Crackle Paste over them randomly. Before the paste dried, I lightly spritzed with water and sprinkled some PaperArtsy Infusions (Sage & Slimed) over the page.

Once everything was dried and crackled, I adhered two gel-printed ovals and a leaf, adding white marks and some found book text. I finished with splashes made with my orange Posca paint pen.

I love how some of my paper scraps lifted and curled up, once the crackle paste had dried.

Wishing you all a happy and creative weekend,

Alison xox
