Hi Everyone!
This was something I've never tried before. For day 17 of Kasia's Advent Calendar, we were asked to trace a shadow of something held over our journal page. I used a piece of fir tree.
After tracing and highlighting with black india ink, I added a red heart, and red & white splatters. I also wrote a poem by Angie Weiland-Crosbie around the edge.
'And there I marvelled at the forest's trees;
my soul rooted to its deep verdant sea.
I could no more leave it,
than it could walk from me.'
I shall link up again to Yvonne's theme at Art Journal Journey.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fab page Alison and what a lovely set of words. I love how you have used the fir tree and how the red has been introduced to make it draw your eye into the whole thing. Well done Alison on a strong verse which I will copy out because it really does sing to me.

Lovely combination of the poem words and illustration of the fir tree. Love the background with hearts and splashes.
ReplyDeleteHappy Advent time to you xx
This is a fantastic page and a super technique idea, the red hearts add just the right amount of colour and draw the eye in. I must try this shadow effect some time. The poem you used with it is lovely. Thank you so much for adding another beautiful page to Art Journal Journey.
