Two Cards and An Ugly Page

Hello Folks. It's been another dark and gloomy day, and raining so I couldn't escape from the noisy decorator! I did make a journal page, although I think it turned out a bit ugly. It started off ok, some collaged scraps of book pages, and a layer of red Dylusions paint.

I painted over with turquoise, and sketched some circles, revealing the red paint beneath.

Then I got carried away, adding book page circles, doodling, splatters, drips and quotes. It was getting dark, and I was disillusioned, so the drips were still wet when I took the final photo.

Not all arty adventures turn out as you'd like! Nevertheless, I'm linking my page to Art Journal Journey.

I have some male birthdays coming up, so here are a couple of cards I made too, using a mini hexagon Gel Press Plate and PaperArtsy stamps. I was inspired by Cat Kerr's video on YouTube.

Until next time...

Alison x

  2. The page is not ugly and I absolutely love those cards !

  3. I hate it when you add a stage to a page and think ...oh no, I want to un-do that!! (been there, done that!) However, I think it looks fine. Love the cards, too.

  4. I am in awe of your "NOT" lovely art journal page. I am truly impressed. It is a beautiful entry for Art Journal Journey, and I think you are too hard on yourself. I like the drips, the book circles, the background, everything!

I'm not a card maker, so those are truly fabulous. I've never seen that specific Gelly plate, but I like how you incorporated it, because your cards truly DO have a male flair.

Thanks for sharing your latest art journal page with us at Art Journal Journey, dear Alison.

  5. I think your page looks great, I have many pages I'm not happy about. Your paint layers and drips, colours all look fantastic to me.
    The Birthday cards are awesome.

  6. Nice work and I love the "ugly" page. Hugs, Valerie

  7. A simple beginning and a wonderful finish. Your page is amazing.
The black color gives it a perfect contrust. The two cards are also very good designed.
    Dear Greetings

  8. I like those bright bold colors on your page Alison. Perfect for a dark day. I love lots of spots and drips and color too! And your cards came out great too. I like those "vintage" crafty individuals stamps. Thanks again for all your great art pieces. Hugs-Erika

  9. Not all arty adventures turn out as you'd like - but others like them! And it is good to make experiences and having fun while making them. I like the black lines over the quote, they bring life to the page.

  11. You have so much going on Alison, I admire you for all you create, the page ended up so amazing , happy and smiling, with bright colors !
    Dorthe, xx

  12. Your abstract page is so bright and colourful, what's not to like 😁. I always find white gesso is my best friend when it comes to pages that don't turn out to my liking 😉. Such fabulous cards too! Wishing you a happy weekend and I hope the dining room is progressing well! J 😊

  13. Well I think the journal page is brilliant and great CAS cards and fabulous stamps

  14. I love this ugly page!! With everything happening around you I can think of nothing better to being armed with a brayer, paint and a blank journal page. Playing catch up again .. Hugs Tracey xx

  15. It may not be as you wanted but I LOVE it!! Just as I love those cards too! Hugs,Chrisx
