Autumn Pages & A Special Card

Hi Everyone.

I have a couple of Autumn themed art journal pages to share, that I failed to get posted on Art Journal Journey. We went away on holiday and time just ran away from me.

And here's the card I made for our daughter Beth, who has just celebrated her 30th birthday. Gosh that makes me feel old!

I used a Tim Holtz abstract faces die and a fab tutorial by Pete Hughes of Sizzix to create Frieda Kahlo.

Robin Christmas Cards

 Hello All.

I've made a start on my Christmas cards, 18 so far. I treated myself to some new dies, Tim Holtz Sizzix birds and festive foliage.

Here are a selection of the cards.

I added gold sparkly ribbon and some Tim Holtz Distress Stickles to this one, so I'm linking up to Try It On Tuesday's Sparkle All The Way challenge.

November Art Journal Calendar

 Hello all.

Here is my art journal calendar for November, which I'm linking to Wendy's On, in, or beside the sea theme at Art Journal Journey.

As I often do, I started with a layer of teabags. I scraped on some PaperArtsy Fresco acrylic paint, Midnight, Captain Peacock and Snowflake, then painted a mixture onto the centre of the pages. I stencilled the fish with Pewter Fresco acrylic, and used a Tim Holtz letters and numbers die and silver mirror card to create the title.

I outlined and added features and numbers to the fish with a black gel pen.

I was inspired by the crashing waves on the rocks of the North Devon coast that we recently visited.

That's Woolacombe beach in the distance, a beautiful stretch of sandy shore.

Aren't those rocks amazing?! Some parts of the coastal path were narrow and rocky and a little bit challenging, but I wouldn't have missed it. And we were very blessed with some beautiful sunny Autumn days.

And finally, here's my completed October art journal calendar.

Autumn Colours with AJJ

 Hello All.

This week we have been having a wonderful time walking the coastal paths and watching the crashing waves on the North Devon coast. We really needed to get away, and it's been not exactly relaxing, but very refreshing. I adore being by the sea.

Our main reason for coming here was to visit the beautiful Ashbarton Estate that our daughter and fiance have booked for their wedding weekend in June 2026, so we had their company for a couple of days. The venue didn't disappoint you'll be pleased to hear. It's going to be perfect for the colourful festival wedding they are planning.

So, back to the real reason for this post. I have another page to share for my Autumn colours and inspiration theme at Art Journal Journey.

More teabags! I just love them! And I love toadstool spotting too, and have seen a few on my walks this week.

Thanks so much for visiting me today.

Gratitude

 Hello everyone.

I have another page to share for my Autumn Colours & Inspiration theme at Art Journal Journey.

There is so much to be grateful for, not least that we live in a peaceful country ๐Ÿ’”, and we don't get many hurricanes here๐Ÿ™.

You can just see the outlines of the rectangle teabags I used as my first layer on this page. I then added paint and stencilled leaves(outlined with a black biro), and used a rigger brush and black ink to draw the large leaf stem and write the title. I used a white Posca pen to add highlights and splatters. I also added some fine black and not so fine gold ink splatters.

Thank you to everyone taking part in the challenge at AJJ, so many and it's only halfway through the month, and your art has been beautiful! Thanks also for all the lovely comments on my recent posts.

Hugs,

Alison xox

October Art Journal Calendar

 Hello All.

Here is my art journal calendar for October.

The leaves were stamped with acrylic paint and a PaperArtsy Lin Brown stamp, cut out and glued onto a background of teabags and PaperArtsy Fresco acrylic paint. The scarecrow is a Tracy Evans stamp. The letters of the title are Darkroom Door stamps.

I'm linking my calendar to my Autumn colours and inspiration theme at Art Journal Journey.

And here's my completed September calendar.

Art Journal Journey - Autumn Colours & Inspiration

 Hello All.

I'm thrilled to be the October host over at Art Journal Journey with the theme Autumn Colours & Inspiration.

Here is my sample page for the challenge.

I started with a layer of collage, then painted over it with a light layer of quinacridone nickel azo gold acrylic.

More collage was added, some leaves stamped with one of my hand-carved stamps, a teabag collage, some lace, a bit of gold leaf, and a Tim Holtz phrase sticker.

I look forward to seeing you over at Art Journal Journey with some Autumn inspired art journal pages.

Wishing you a happy October,

Alison

Art Journal Calendar - September 2024

 Hello All.

I've been busy with my crochet hook lately, making poppies for Remembrance, hats and scarves for charity, and now I'm getting started on projects for my daughter's wedding in 2026! She's requested crocheted place mats for all the guests (possibly 160 or more), crocheted potted plants, and crocheted flowers to go in coloured glass vases. It's lucky that I crochet fairly quickly.

Anyway, I did manage to make my September art journal calendar, and here it is.

That transparent red iron oxide acrylic against the PaperArtsy Seaglass acrylic is making my heart sing!

I'm linking my calendar to Art Journal Journey, where Aimeslee's theme is Anything Goes.

And before I go, here is my completed August calendar.

Seek, Gather, Create August 2024 - Week 1

 Hi All.

Seek, Gather, Create August 2024 is another Instagram challenge, hosted by Tina Hois, Laura Denison, Lisa Goddard and Casey Turner.

These are the prompts for week 1...

1. colour: gold

2. plastic wrap

3. something burnt

4. handwriting or asemic writing

Here's the page I created...

I used some gold Twinings Tea plastic wrapping and created a little pocket using staples, made a background with lots of teabag texture and PaperArtsy Seaglass Fresco acrylic paint. I burnt some lace trim which was slightly scary, and added some scribbled journaling, Tim Holtz people and Dymo text.

I'm linking my page to Jo's Wonderfully Wild theme at Art Journal Journey.

Scrappy8challenge - August - Salt

 Hi everyone.

Here's my take on the August Scrappy8 challenge on Instagram. This month's theme of SALT was chosen by Dawn/@4gracecreations.

I went a bit wild adding sea salt to acrylic inks on some watercolour paper, to tear up and use on my art journal page, layered up some collage scraps, and added a little hand-drawn wild flower between my colourful heart flowers. The book text is taken from my old copy of Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice.

Junk Journal July - Days 28 & 29

 Hello All.

I have a couple more Junk Journal July pages to share with you.

Day 28 - Buttons

Day 29 - Contrast. I used warm and cool colours, and there are shiny and matt surfaces.

I went a little bit wild and abstract with this page, so I'm linking it to Jo's Wonderfully Wild theme at Art Journal Journey. I think the silver paint looks a bit like a waterfall.
