Daisy Yellow Art's ICAD Challenge - The Final Few

Hello All.

Today I have the final few ICAD's to share with you.

57/61 - Guillemot.

 58/61 - Razorbill.

59/61 - Starling.

60/61 - Collared Dove.

61/61 - European Robin.

I'm sad to see this series come to its end. I hope you've enjoyed seeing my birds. I finished with three of our regular visitors, the noisy, greedy Starling, the pretty Collared Dove, and the cheeky little European Robin.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

52 Weeks Art Journal - Week 30 - 15 Minute Art

Hello Everyone.

This week Michelle/RaspberryBlueSky challenged us to create a page in 15 minutes.

I began as I usually do, with a bit of collage. I scraped some turquoise paint over this, then sketched the flower with black ink, letting it drip. I love a drip or three! I added some butterflies, the three phrase stickers, used a Stabilo All black pencil to outline, and finished with white paint splashes. When I'd finished, I was thrilled to noticed that I'd created a rhyme with the words 😁

I'm joining in again with Alison's Summer Countryside theme at Art Journal Journey

52 Weeks Art Journal - Week 29 - Mindfulness

 Hello All.

This week Michelle/RaspberryBlueSky's art journal theme is Mindfulness.

To begin, I enjoyed some mindfulness moments gluing down some collage on my page.

Then I used my fingers to add some acrylic paint colour. I added some fingerprint marks, and some very loose swirls and asemic writing. I'm still being extra careful with my tennis elbow.

I added some watery white paint drips, then stamped my hand-carved pebbles to create a cairn, topping it with my hand-carved bird. I finished with some pieces of torn teabag paper, and white paint splashes.

This page reminds me of summer holidays spent hiking in the Lake District, and seeing the beautiful rock and pebble cairns people have built. I always like to add a pebble to them as we pass by. I'm linking my page to Alison's Summer Countryside theme at Art Journal Journey, and to Try It On Tuesday's Feathered Friends theme.

Time to rest my arm again now.

52 Weeks Art Journal - Week 28 - Thought of the Day

Hello All.

I've got another page to share for Michelle/RaspberryBlueSky's 52WeekArtJournal challenge. The theme for week 28 was Thought For The Day.

I found a good quote on Pinterest, and it went well with one of the collage fodder art dolls I made recently. I used collage and one of my hand-carved stamps on the background.

Daisy Yellow Arts ICAD Challenge - Week 7

Hi Everyone! I'm back today with this week's little 6x4" index card collages.

43/61 - Jackdaw. I love these little corvids, we often have one or two on our bird feeder.

44/61 - Jay. Another favourite. I love that flash of blue.

45/61 - Tawny Owl. Who doesn't love an owl?! Tawnys are so beautiful.

46/61 - Coot. We see these on our morning walks, usually with 2 or 3 young at the moment.

47/61 - Pochard Ducks. I don't know if I've ever seen one of these. They are winter visitors to the UK.

48/61 - Song Thrush. Occasionally hear these from our garden, they have a lovely song.

49/61 - Kentish Plover. Pretty little birds, not sure if I've ever seen one of these.

That's all for this week. I hope you've enjoyed seeing these little bird-themed collages today.

Thanks for visiting,

Using Collage Fodder with Leaca Young

 Hello All.

Collage fodder is a new term to me, but I think I finally understand what it is after doing the Fodder Challenge course. Leaca Young sketches, paints and cuts out from magazines mainly botanical images, and she showed us how she uses these as focals in her art journal pages, along with painted scraps of collage material.

I made a page with a piece of the muslin fabric I painted recently, a piece of vintage music sheet, and some water colour leaves that I outlined with a black gel pen. I used some Tim Holtz phrase stickers to create a little story.

The background is made up of round teabag papers, with some black marks added.

Fodder Your Day

Hello All. Here's an art journal page I made, following Kelly Anderson's class on Willa Wanders' Fodder Challenge.

I used brown packaging paper, music sheet, a teabag, gel-printed greaseproof paper, some of my hand-carved stamps and hand-made washi tape. I used to be really good at spelling ;-)

Another page for Alison's Summer Countryside theme at Art Journal Journey.

My tennis elbow is a bit better lately, as I'm being careful not to use it too much. A little bit of art every day, but no stamp carving or crochet for me at the moment :-(

Thanks for dropping by,

Happy new week,

Alison xox

Mixed Media Master Sheet

 Hello All.

Mixed media master sheet is the class by Wendy Solganik aka Willa Wanders on her Fodder Challenge course.

Here's my master sheet...

I cut it up and made some cards with 3 of the pieces. The plants and flowers were hand-drawn by me.

And I created an art journal page for Alison's Summer Countryside theme at Art Journal Journey with another piece...

I still have a couple of pieces left 😁

Thanks for visiting me here today,

Hugs,

Strips 'n' Stitches

 Hello All.

Tiffany Sharpe's tutorial on Willa Wander's Fodder Challenge was about using up those trimmed pieces of paper we all keep, and stitching them down for a beautiful background.

Here's the start of another page in my art journal. I attached my stitched piece over some teabag papers.

Then I sketched and cut out some book page flowers.

I decided the flowers needed more colour, I used Stabilo Woodys for this, and I also added some white ink splashes.

I'm linking my finished page to Alison's Summer Countryside theme at Art Journal Journey.

Sticky Collage Fodder

Here's some more art I made on Willa Wanders' Fodder Challenge course, using Rebecca Chapman's Sticky Collage Fodder tutorial.

These abstract collages were created using painted sticky labels, with a few paint pen marks added.

52 Weeks Art Journal - Week 27 - Botanical

 Hello All.

This week Michelle of Raspberry Blue Sky has given us the prompt Botanical for her 52 Weeks Art Journal Challenge on Instagram.

Here's my page, which also works well for Alison's Summer Countryside theme at Art Journal Journey.

I've used some painted muslin pieces on my page, that I created using DeeDee Catron's tutorial on Willa Wanders' Collage Fodder free course.

Below are some other pieces of fabric that I altered, using stencils, acrylic paint and a couple of my hand-carved stamps. The muslin I used had been stained with tea previously, and was just waiting to be transformed. Look out for pieces of these appearing on my bird-themed index cards ;-)

Thanks so much for dropping by today,

Hugs,
