365 Somethings - Week 41

Hi Everyone!

This week I experimented with using some clear tar gel on my teabags. Whilst they were still wet, I dripped some alcohol inks on, then left them to dry for 24 hours. The tar gel made the teabags transparent, so I painted the backs with white gesso. I outlined the alcohol ink colours with white paint pen. I added collage circles and word stickers, then finished with black pen outlines around them.

The clear tar gel was an interesting experiment, I've had it in my stash for a long time!

It's wet and dark and miserable here, but my cold is gradually going thankfully.

Happy Monday,

Alison xox

  1. Beautiful tea-bags! Glad your cold is getting better. It's hot and sunny here in Germany, temps like in summer. Valerie

  3. I've only used mine once I think (got it for one of the PA challenges) it seems to stay very sticky..... love your tea bags!

  4. I am glad you are finally on the mend. I was given some tar gel once, but before I could use it, it disappeared, even though I looked everywhere for it. I really LOVE this latest series of tea bags. They are different and unique.

  6. I've never used Tar Gel as like Helen said it's a little sticky but I love the results you got Alison and the transparency element could be quiet useful in some projects. They remind me of little jam tarts and look good enough to eat.. hee hee!!
Good to know you are managing to kick that cold, my whole family were down with a virus and it's left the elders quite weak :(
