Hi Everyone!
The theme for week 21 of Raspberry Blue Sky's 52 Weeks Art Journal Instagram challenge is Face/Portrait.
Here is my portrait. I brayered on some leftover orange paint, then used a blue Woody watercolour pencil to sketch the face. I applied water with a paintbrush to activate the lines, then used a black gel pen to add scribbly outlines to the face, and to write the words. I added some splashes with the wet pencil and a paintbrush loaded with water.
Hopefully the language of the eyes qualifies this page for Elle's Language theme at Art Journal Journey.
I'm typing this left-handed, as I seem to have developed a Bursitis lump on my right elbow, which is quite painful. So please forgive me if I don't visit you very quickly.
Keep safe and well,
Hugs,
Alison xox

Ah yes, “the look”. Yours sketch is wonderful. Love the orange with wisps of purple and the very fine lines that look like they might be a red. Best wishes for healing your elbow.
ReplyDeleteI like how you use color and the sketch is great. Hope your elbow is better soon 👍
ReplyDeleteLove the page Alison, she is definitely communicating with the look in her eyes for sure. She looks really cool. Thanks for joining me for the Language theme at Art Journal Journey this month Elle xx
ReplyDeleteLooks say a lot. All you had to do was ask my kids when I taught. They knew certain expressions meant something specific. I think this a great face and a great page and also perfect for Elle's language challenge. Thanks for sharing it with us at AJJ Alison. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful, enchanting work of art again, the colors are so beautiful again, have a good day ,hug Elke

ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your elbow, I hope you are feeling better soon! Your portrait is amazing, I love the technique that you used watercolour pencil - so beautiful 😀. Take care and wishing you well! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteLove how you started with the orange background and from there created this amazing artwork. I hope your arm heals soon.

Oh Alison, I wish I had an extra arm so you could rest your elbow AND write with both hands.
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of your depiction of a face or portrait. I believe this is incredible. You draw so well. The eyes are SO expressive and beautiful, they truly do qualify for Elle's theme at Art Journal Journey. I love what you did with the watercolor pen and the black scribbles. I also love the orange color, too. It's all so well done, dear.
I thought this was a stamped face - you know like the kind Jane Davenport/Dina Wakeley etc does. Gosh Alison I am impressed but I should have known if you could design all those stamps you have done you would be able to draw something like this. Love the page.
ReplyDeleteHope your elbow gets sortd and doesn't stop your art.
Hugs, Neet xx
Wow Alison! This face is fabulous.I hope you get better quickly, Hugs, Chrisx
