Wishing It All Away

I imagine we've all wanted to wish something away at many times in our lives. I have a gastroscopy booked for this afternoon that I'm wishing was over and done with. I'm definitely going for sedation, as fortunately my dear husband will be going with me.

So this morning I escaped from my fears for a while by creating this art journal page for Eileen's Dreams or Wishes theme at Art Journal Journey. I think it looks like a far off galaxy that I want to escape to! Or maybe this is what the doctor will see when he puts the tube down my throat!

The base layer is some tissue paper that I crinkled up and adhered with gel medium. Then I used my finger to add colour with cobalt turquoise hue, quinacridone gold and paynes grey acrylic paint, and white gesso, building up layers to create lots of depth. I finished with splashes of gold acrylic.

Big hugs,

Alison xxx

  9. Almost surreal, Alison. It is gorgeous and really beautiful, too. Thanks for sharing it with us using Eileen's theme at Art Journal Journey. Best of luck getting through your current ordeal. These things can sound scarier than they actually are, at least I hope that's the case.

The texture in your art feels dimensional even on my computer screen. Nice!

  13. What an amazing way to work through your fears about the gastroscopy. I'm hoping that the fact that you've been visiting W&P means that all went well, and that you are doing okay.

The textures and colours here are wonderful - and I can really see a torso here, with areas of red pain and fear. It's so powerful.

  15. Love this! The colours you have chosen are fantastic. They work so well with the texture that the crumpled tissue gives.
Don't worry too much about the gastro - it will be over and done with before you know it and you will not know a thing with a bit of sedation. Much better that end than the other
