Persevere

Persevere was the word that came to my mind this morning, as I opened my art journal for the first time in two weeks.

Does anyone else struggle to get back to creating art after a break, or is it just me? There was a reason, we had some lovely visitors last week, which meant that we had to tidy, clean, and get a room ready for them. But they left a whole week ago, and I've been procrastinating and finding other things to do, which kept me out of my craft room.

Hopefully I've broken the cycle now, with another spread for my Geometric Shapes Theme at Art Journal Journey.

Lots of collage and teabags, scrapes and splashes of paint, stenciling, and mark-making with my plastic cross-stitch circle tool.

It's good to be back!!!

Wishing you all a creative Wednesday,

Alison xox

  2. Welcome back...I think we all know that feeling and hope we don't get it too often! You certainly have made the most beautiful page that I hope wasn't too hard to persevere with once you got going! It certainly has wonderful colours and texture! Looking forward to seeing more soon! 3. This looks fantastic. And I like the word you chose. Great artwork! I procrastinate on various things in life, but the holidays did seem to throw off my whole sense of schedule. I haven't done much artwork lately either, but for me it's because of artist's block.

  4. A lovely spread Alison the textures and colours look beautiful.
It can be hard to get started again after a break, but I have to admit that if I open my journal and get out the paint something usually gets put on the page, even though it may have to wait a while to get completed.

  6. It looks like you really made a comeback. I am definitely someone who gets into a groove and needs a little kick to change it up so I understand exactly what you are saying. Love the latest page. ANd the challenge this month too. Hugs-Erika

  7. I was really getting worried about you, Alison. I was about to send out a search party (grin). Looks like you are back with a vengeance, though, or should I say perseverance. This is a wonderful spread. I love the monochromatic color you chose. It's a gem and simply perfect for your theme at Art Journal Journey.

BTW, as much as I simply ADORE your theme, I am struggling to create art this month, after the marathon I had last month.

  11. Beautiful spread, Alison! Do I procrastinate creating art? I'm a chronic procrastinator. But once I break through, it feels so good to complete a piece that I can usually maintain momentum for a bit. "Creativity takes courage." Hugs, Eileen

  12. Beautiful pages! The round teabags are perfect for your Geometric shape theme over at AJJ and look wonderful in comparison to the squares and stenciling - perfect 😁. When I have days when I'm not sure what to do creatively, I always play around and create a background, it always inspires me ...lol πŸ˜‰ and as I do art journaling, I always tend to have a list of pages to create from things I see and do. The pages on my list don't all get created though, not enough time ...lol πŸ˜€. Enjoy the rest of your week! J 😊 x
