AJJ January Challenge - Geometric Shapes - A Final Page

Hello Everyone.

I've had a wonderful month, hosting at Art Journal Journey with my Geometric Shapes Theme. Thank you to everyone for joining in with such wonderful and inspiring artwork. I have a final page to enter for my theme.

For this page, I began by using a palette knife to apply white gesso, then used the knife to add scribbles before it dried. Then I glued down some used and emptied round teabags in a circular shape, added some hand-cut dotty paper circles, and a heart cut from a gel plate print. I added doodles, scribbled outlines, scrapes of Seaglass Fresco Acrylic, and finished with some journaling.

Wishing you all a creative day,

AJJ Geometric Shapes Collage

Morning Everyone!

Here's a page that I created a couple of days ago, for my Geometric Shapes theme at Art Journal Journey.

I used some scraps I found whilst having a tidy. The thistle is a Crafty Individuals stamp that I'd clear embossed some time ago and not used, and the square piece is a fabric transfer. I can't remember where that image came from. I finished with some paint pen marks and doodles.

I woke up to a winter wonderland this morning, but the sun is shining so I don't think the snow will hang around for long. Hope not, as I have some girlfriends coming over tonight for wine, nibbles and a catch up!

Have a lovely day,

AJJ - Geometric Journaling & New Guinea Pigs

Hi Everyone!

Let me start by showing you the new Guinea pigs...

That's Angus in the foreground, his 'mini-me' Hamish top right, and Fergus is just peeping out on the left. The cage is bigger than it looks, but I'm thinking of getting a larger enclosure. Just need to clear some more space in my craft room!

Here's a better pic of Fergus. He has a cute little white quiff.

And here is another art journal spread, inspired by Susi's recent art, for my Geometric Shapes theme at Art Journal Journey. I'm also entering it in Moo-Mania & More's Square Challenge.

My craft friend Hazel, who some of you may know from Hazel's Creative Moments, came over for a wonderful arty session, catch up, and lunch yesterday. We both played in our art journals. I got messy with paint, collage, PaperArtsy stamps, and mark-making.

I also did some scribble writing with Bombay India Ink and my new glass dip pen. Teabags got in the page too, of course, both underneath and on top!

Happy Thursday,

Twinings Nearly Every Day!

Morning Everyone! It's a cold and frosty one today, but at least we don't have snow...yet!

I got up early to see the blood moon, which was beautiful, but sadly I don't own a good enough camera to take a photo. I'm sure there'll be lots of photos on the Web though.

It was a busy weekend, I was helping at the animal rescue Saturday, and I also started to de-clutter my craft room yesterday, to make room for a larger guinea pig cage. Angus will be gaining a couple of new friends from the sanctuary today :-)

I created another journal spread on Friday, for my Geometric Shapes Theme at Art Journal Journey, and here it is.

Lots of teabag texture, some crackle paste, acrylic paint and marks, and a teabag collage with punched leaves falling from it.

Wishing you all a wonderful week, I'm off to pick up my new guinea piggies now! Photos to come :-)

New PaperArtsy Seth Apter Stamps

Hi Everyone!

PaperArtsy are releasing lots of new stamp designs at the moment, and I am fortunate to already have one of Seth Apter's new sets ESA11. There are some great designs on it that are perfect for my Geometric Shapes Theme over at Art Journal Journey, so I had a play with them this morning.

The left hand page already had a Gelli Plate print on it before I added some used teabag papers. I tore hearts from book page, tore the remnants into square/rectangle shapes to use on this side, then I stamped images from Seth's ESA11, using black and gold Fresco Acrylic paint.

On the right hand page, I glued teal tissue, then used teabag papers. Then I added three round teabags, and the three torn hearts. I stamped Seth's images with black and gold Fresco Acrylic, then added splatters of white paint and orange ink over both pages. I finished with some pencil outlines on the hearts and rectangles.

Wishing you all a creative day!

Persevere

Persevere was the word that came to my mind this morning, as I opened my art journal for the first time in two weeks.

Does anyone else struggle to get back to creating art after a break, or is it just me? There was a reason, we had some lovely visitors last week, which meant that we had to tidy, clean, and get a room ready for them. But they left a whole week ago, and I've been procrastinating and finding other things to do, which kept me out of my craft room.

Hopefully I've broken the cycle now, with another spread for my Geometric Shapes Theme at Art Journal Journey.

Lots of collage and teabags, scrapes and splashes of paint, stenciling, and mark-making with my plastic cross-stitch circle tool.

It's good to be back!!!

Wishing you all a creative Wednesday,

Art Journal Calendar January 2019

Hi Everyone!

It's a new year, and this year I have a new book to start for my art journal calendar spreads. Here's January...

It's a grungy page, with scraps of book page, used teabag papers, scrapes of acrylic paints, and stencilled splotches. Oh, and it wouldn't be me without some splashes of paint too! Red for a bit of contrast.

And here are all of my 2018 calendar pages together...

We have visitors coming next week, so I'm busy trying to get the house clean and tidy. I have a plan, I'm tackling a room a day, and I started with our hallway. I'm impressed with myself, I filled two big sacks with coats we don't wear anymore! They're going to the charity shop tomorrow.

Hope you're all having a good week.
