Ahh Sunflower!

Afternoon All!

I'm just getting back to the craft room after a little break, I had a horrible cold last week. There seems to be a lot of it about! Anyway, I'm a bit croaky, but feeling much better, especially after getting back in my art journal.

Working in my gel plate print journal, I adhered scrapes of paper and teabags, then made my collage sunflower with torn pieces of gel plate print and rusted paper. After adding more pieces of torn collage, I used a paint pen and gel pen to add doodles and marks, and wrote out the poem 'Ahh Sunflower by William Blake'.

Hoping my sunflower's not too orange, I'm entering my page for Rike's 'The Colour Yellow' theme at Art Journal Journey.

I've just discovered Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenge, where they have a Mixed Media Anything Goes theme, so I'm linking my page there also.

Happy creating,

Alison xox

  1. What a beautiful sunny art journal page - I LOVE it! So, you also have a gel plate print journal like me - it makes much fun, doesn't it? You use even the scraps and glue it on, very clever! I have to remember this. Very good idea to write the quote around the sunbeams, it's a great effect!
Thank you for linking your fantastic mixed media page to my yellow theme at AJJ!

  5. This looks great. I'm enjoying all of the yellows during this bleak winter. I'm sorry to hear you were sick. Drink plenty of tea with honey if your throat is sore from coughing. :-)

  6. Your sunflower brightened my day, and encouraged me to make one, too. This is SO clever, and I really like how you put it together. So glad you shared it with us, using Rike's theme at Art Journal Journey.

Join the crowd of sick people. I'm just getting over pneumonia and starting to feel better, too. Hope you are truly on the mend and are not overdoing things.

  10. I love your big bold sunflower. It looks almost like one you would find on quilt. It would be beautiful in fabric as well as it is on your page. Glad you have gotten past your cold. There are nasty ones going around. Hugs-Erika
