Hello friends.
Today I'm sharing my art journal calendar for October.
I started by gluing down some torn 7 Gypsies patterned paper and book pages to my pages, placing a piece with 'Life Is Good' in the bottom right corner. I added a light layer of gesso to this. Then I stamped some Stampin Up gears with Ranger archival sienna ink.
I found a piece of Tim Holtz red paper from his Christmas patterned paper pad, and brayered some PaperArtsy Cherry Red Fresco acrylic paint on to make it a deeper red. I cut out 31 1.5 " squares for journaling, and stamped gears and clock faces on them in Sienna ink.
When I was gluing down my red squares with gel medium, a happy accident occurred, the sienna ink bled and turned my background a lovely rusty colour ๐
I stencilled my title using a PaperArtsy stencil and Cherry Red Fresco acrylic, then added outlines and numbers with a black gel pen.
I'm linking my October Calendar to Neet's In Gear theme at Art Journal Journey.
Finally, here's my completed September calendar.
Thanks for dropping by. Have a wonderful October.
Alison
Love your steampunk calendar, and that bleeding ink did a good job! Thanks for joining us at AJJ, much appreciated! Have a great October, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for seeing your ready calendar pages. Back grounds are beautiful ๐
ReplyDeleteWow Alison! This is brilliant in every way- love the colours and the way the ink changed the background colour! Hugs, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteI love the subtle and not so subtle gears on this month's calendar Alison. I bet you can name every AJJ challenge just by going back to your calendars. Smile. But it is appreciated that you join us each month, and this is a great example for Neet's challenge. Thank you. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing transformation. The gears and clocks were subtle, but quite effective. You also used a lot of gears in the background, too. This is an amazing entry at AJJ using Neet's theme.
ReplyDeleteLoving the steampunk look and feel of your calender pages with all those gears and cogs ๐. Hope you are keeping well and wishing you a very Happy October! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteLove your October color scheme, gotta love those happy accidents! You sure can write tiny! I never could, lol. Happy October! xoxo
ReplyDeleteOhhh this is a brilliant calendar. I love the red. Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteLove your teapot calendar. Your "In Gear" October calendar is great! I hadn't realised that each of the red squares had some gears stamped on them. How fabulous is that? The stamping has given them a lovely effect and what a happy accident in that the sienna has turned your background into a rust colour. Perfect colouring for October when the leaves are turning into those jewel like colours.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in with my theme at AJJ with such a great calendar. Hope you enjoy filling it in each day - Happy October
Hugs, neet xx
love your steampunk calendar pages
ReplyDeleteLove your calendar this month Alison, especially the lightly stamped gears on the red squares. Elle xx
