Happy New Year

Happy 2020 Everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas, and that the new year will be a happy, creative and healthy one for you all.

Here's my January 2020 calendar, all ready to record my daily thoughts and activities. As you can see, I filled in day one before it was light enough to take the photograph. There's also a little whoopsie where I managed to forget that I needed 31 circles!

For the background, I used lots of different monoprints, tearing and adhering to create a colourful collage.

I stencilled the journalling circles using Midnight Fresco Finish acrylic, stamped the date, and hand-wrote the title. I painted the little flourishes, and used a white Sakura Gelly Roll pen for the numbers and dots, and to journal. I've only just noticed that my calendar appears to be filled with balloons and streamers, perfect for the new year celebrations.

Finally, here's my December calendar, all filled in...

Thanks for dropping by,

Alison xox

  1. Such beautiful calender pages and perfect for our theme at AJJ! The riot of colours and patterns in the background looks amazing with the black circles and the gel pen looks superb, I'll have to look out for one 😁. Your December pages look so festive with all the holly leaves too 😉. Thanks so much for joining us at Art Journal Journey and wishing you a very Happy New Year! Hugs, Jo x

  3. It looks a really happy calendar page to start the new year, snd I didn't notice the whoopsie missing circle. The pen looks good to use against the dark backgrounds. first item I will be keeping a look out for this year.

  6. They do indeed look like balloons and at first I thought that was the plan ;-) Love using black, too - great idea. Lots of white/metallic marker entries. Nice to see you filled in December's...that's why I stopped doing calendar pages; I never filled them in so it was a waste of time, really. Just not me to do that, though I do journal every day - as in writing - though mainly scripture! The holly days look brilliant.
Happy, Healthy, Creative and blessed new year to you, Alison!
