Art Journal Journey - Poetry in Motion

Morning Everyone!

I have a final page for Art Journal Journey's Poetry in Motion challenge to share today. I used my card prompts again, but only 10 this time, starting with a heart cut from a magazine, and finishing with scribble journaling. I did add the dried paint from my white paint tube, and some blue paint splatters as a finishing touch though.

The quote reads... 'Smile. It's the key that fits the lock of everybody's heart.' ... Anthony J. D'Angelo.

I hope you all have a wonderful day,

Embrace The Detours

Hello Everyone!

I finally got around to playing with my new deck of art journaling prompts, and this page was the result. I randomly used 20 cards, the first of which was to splash tea or coffee on the page, and the final was to use a stamp. It was a fun process.

I was recently asked by Leisanne of Crimson Cricket blog what motivated me to create art. HERE is her first post in a series, which contains my answer. Basically, it makes me happy!

Wishing you all an artful day!

Art Journal Prompts Card Deck

Hello Everyone!

I've been wanting to make a deck of art journal card prompts for a while now, and the Everything Art Live Adventure page that I made last Saturday prompted me to get on with it. Excuse the pun!

I started by applying white paint to both sides of a deck of playing cards, using my 10x8 inch Gelli Plate. Next I used Dylusions paint and PaperArtsy Kim Dellow masks to print both sides of all the cards. I used a Fudeball black journaling pen then, to outline the stencilling. I typed out all the prompts on copier paper, cut them out and glued them to one side of each card, outlining them with the black pen too. I finished off by sponging the edges of the cards with black archival ink. I think they look amazing! I love the bright colours with Kim's gorgeous stencil designs!

I also got some pretty cool prints made for future use...

I can't wait to play with my cards, maybe this afternoon!

Wishing you all a very happy Friday!

Don't Let Weeds Grow Around Your Dreams

Hello Everyone.

I picked up a few Amsterdam Acrylic Inks at the stamp show on Sunday, and had a little play with them in my art journal today. This is the result. I love the vibrancy of the inks, especially the neon ones!

Hope you're all having a great week!

Everything Art Live Adventure Art Journaling

Hello Everyone!

Last night, Everything Art's Kasia Avery hosted a live art journaling session on Facebook. At the beginning of the play, she asked us to message different prompts to use during our play session. I suggested tearing circles out of a magazine to adhere to the page. Kasia used 20 of the prompts in total, and this is how my page turned out. I love it!!!

As I have some words on it, I'm linking my page to Art Journal Journey's Poetry in Motion Challenge.

I had a lovely day today, catching up with lots of friends at the Stamperama stamp show, now I'm off to get some supper, and watch the 2015 film of Far From The Madding Crowd, which is one of my favourite books!

Wishing you all a happy Sunday Evening,

Messy Journaling

Hello Everyone!

Today, I got stuck into the paint with my fingers to create a page. I picked out three colours of Dylusions paint plus white, and some paint and gel pens. And this was the result...

I wrote...Let yourself go, Make messy art, Use your fingers! Even the flowers were made with my fingerprints.

I'm going to the Stamperama Show in Stevenage tomorrow, and looking forward to catching up with my arty crafty friends.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend,

Country View Challenges - Blue and Green

Hello Everyone!

I found a bit of time to do some art journaling yesterday, a little bit of collaged gelli-printed tissue,  some doodled vines, and a Picasso quote I found online.

I'm off to my lovely crochet group this morning, for a bit of hooking and chatting,

wishing you all a happy Friday,

Crafty Play Day

Hello Everyone!

This week I've been catching up with friends. Yesterday, was spent at a local National Trust garden with my best pal, her son, and little King Charles spaniel. We went for a lovely walk, had lunch in the tearoom, and admired the beautiful flowers in the gardens. The sun was shining and we had a lovely time.

On Tuesday, my friend Hazel came for lunch and crafty play. I cooked a yummy spicy sweet potato and bean stew, from a recipe on Tesco's website. And I also spent the day making bright masterboards, using Dylusion's paint and PaperArtsy stamps.

I needed a card for a friend who was having some surgery yesterday, so I used one of the backgrounds and PaperArtsy Lin Brown stamps to make this...

I'm hoping to get some art journaling in before the weekend, so watch this space.

Hope you're all having an artful day,

Alison x

LOVE Art Journal Page

Morning Everyone!

Although the Art Marks Challenge is now finished, I decided to carry on filling up my little 7x5 inch journal with art.

Here is an abstract page I made yesterday, using my favourite Dina Wakley paint colours of Turquoise and Lime, with a bit of Ruby for contrast. The 'Love' stamp was a Craft Stamper mag freebie.

Hope you all have a wonderful, arty day,

Rae Missigman's Artmarks 30 Day Summer Challenge 2017 - Final Day 30

Hi Everyone!

It's the final day of Rae Missigman's wonderful Art Marks Challenge. Well, technically, it was yesterday, but I had a horrible headache all day, and was unable to use my computer as my daughter was watching Game of Thrones on it!

Day 30's theme is 'Closed' so I added an index card flap to my page. Here it is in the closed position...

And, here it is open...

I collaged masking tape, a teabag and some paper scraps for texture, covered with white gesso, then used PaperArtsy Everything Art stamps, Red Bombay India Ink, and Dina Wakley Media Acrylics in Lime and Turquoise, then added marks and writing. The index card was edged and attached with washi tape.

The head is still a bit sore, I think it may be a viral one, so I'm off to make porridge and relax my eyes a bit.

Wishing you all a wonderful week of artfulness,

Alison x

Rae Missigman's Artmarks 30 Day Summer Challenge 2017 - Day 29

Hello Everyone!

Here's my Day 29 Art Marks page. The theme was Stitched. I cheated and drew faux stitches, but did layer my collaged circles onto black thread. I used Dina Wakley Lime and Turquoise paint, and red Bombay India Ink.

I also wrote some affirmation quotes around the edges of my page, so I'm linking up to Art Journal Journey's Poetry in Motion challenge again.

Have an artful weekend,

Rae Missigman's Artmarks 30 Day Summer Challenge 2017 - Day 28

Hello folks!

Artmarks Day 28 - Metallic

On today's page I thought I'd try sketching some birds (inspired by Susi/Froebelsternchen's occasional bird sketches). I used black paint through a fine nozzle, so all of the black outlines, writing and marks on my page have a little dimension. There is a little bit of collage with teabag papers, and I added colour and marks with Dina Wakley Media Acrylics (Sky, Lime, Magenta). As the theme was 'Metallic', I used Golden Fluid Acrylic in iridescent bronze and a cardboard tube to make some circles, and finished with watery splatters.

And, as I have a quote on my page, I'm linking up to Art Journal Journey's Poetry in Motion challenge.

I'm also linking to Paint Party Friday.

Happy Friday!

Artmarks 30 Day Summer Challenge 2017 - Day 27

Hello Everyone!

On today's Artmarks page, I've incorporated another of Leila Thomson's beautiful verses "daisy chains and bare feet". It reads "the world has rushed past and left me behind, stranded a stranger crying across time, daisy chains and bare feet, time passes like clouds across the sky, mistaken immortality of youth."

Day 27 - Collected - I used some of my teabag paper collection on this page, with Dina Wakley acrylics, some marks and splatters.

Wishing you all a happy and artful day,

Artmarks 30 Day Summer Challenge 2017 - Day 26

Hello to my new followers, it's lovely to welcome you here at my arty adventures blog!

Today I have another artmarks page to share...

Day 26 - Tattered - Started with a bit of brayered turquoise paint, then a roughed up piece of gauze, followed by torn teabag papers and painty scraps, a few marks and splatters, and finished with book text.

Have a happy and arty day,

Alison x

Artmarks 30 Day Summer Challenge 2017 - Day 25

Hello Everyone!

Here's my artmarks page for day 25. The prompt was 'Found', so I used some arrow shaped yarn ball bands from a recent crochet project, collaging them onto the background, and painting, doodling and outlining them. I also used PaperArtsy paint and stencils.

I finished with another quote from one of Leila Thomson's beautiful tapestries. It's a stunning piece with the sun and moon, in Leila's book that I bought when we visited her gallery.

Wishing you all a happy and creative day,

Artmarks 30 Day Summer Challenge 2017 - Day 24

Hello Everyone!

As we go into the final week of Rae Missigman's Artmarks Challenge, here is my page for today.

Day 24 - Remnants

When we were holidaying on The Orkneys earlier this year, we visited The Hoxa Tapestry Gallery on South Ronaldsay. Tapestry artist Leila Thomson incorporates poetry into her beautiful tapestries, and the quote on my page is from one of them, a stunning piece featuring a solitary person standing on a beach...

"echoes"

in this space we stand
our future an unknown and ever changing land
our past like a shadow across the sand
all you've been and all you've done
the children and all that they will become

Leila Thomson

You can visit the gallery website HERE, if you'd like to see Leila's beautiful tapestries.

Artmarks 30 Day Summer Challenge 2017 - Days 22 and 23

Hello Everyone!

Here are my latest two pages for Rae's Artmarks Challenge.

Day 22 - Torn - I kept adding and adding to this page, and it still didn't rock my boat, but you have to stop sometime. Hence the phrase sticker on it.

Day 23 - Lettered - I was going to leave this page with just the background, but it niggled me, not really my style, so I stencilled the face then stencilled various letter e's and outlined. I used That's Crafty stencils, so I'm entering this page in That's Crafty's Anything but a Card Challenge.

Happy Sunday!

I Paint Flowers...

Welcome Everyone!

Today's Artmarks page is a little less colourful than I'm known for. I was inspired by Susi's (Froebelsternchen) lovely collaged art journal page. I found a wonderful Frida Kahlo quote, so I'm entering my page for Jo's (Let's Art Journal) challenge at Art Journal Journey 'Poetry in Motion'.

Here is my Day 21 page for Rae's Summer Artmarks Challenge, the theme of which is 'Collaged'. Water-coloured and plain old tea-stained teabags, book text, painted flower, marks and splatters of paint and tea, and a found quote...

There's so much beautiful teabag art on Pinterest. I have pinned a few pieces HERE, if you're interested.

Happy Friday! Have a great weekend!

Artmarks 30 Day Summer Challenge 2017 - Days 19 & 20

Hello Everyone!

We're two thirds through this challenge now, and my journal is starting to fill up. It's interesting to look through for inspiration, although I tend to just go for it, trying not to overthink the page.

Here are my latest two pages...

Day 19 - Scattered - Very simple pen drawn mandala, over a background made with leftover paint from day 18's page.

Day 20 - Scratched - I used Dylusions paint on this one, scraping it on with a palette knife, then scratching into the paint with the tip. Sketched leaves with charcoal pencil, then added marks, scribbles, splatters and a Tim Holtz quote sticker.

Wishing you all a wonderful, creative day!

Artmarks 30 Day Summer Challenge 2017 - Days 17 & 18

Hello lovely followers!

Here are another couple of pages for the Artmarks Challenge...

Day 17 - Dripped - page started with bubble wrap printing with turquoise acrylic, then random stamping with Dina Wakley stamps, ink & paint, then watered down paint drips(love how the bubble wrap printing resisted, and the drips went wiggly around it!). Finished off with more turquoise paint in the circles, then marks and writing.

Day 18 - Many - so many layers of collage, paint, marks and writing! A few ugly moments! Lol!

I'll hopefully be back tomorrow with another couple of pages, if not before.

Thanks for visiting today,

Alison x

Art Journal Calendar - August 2017

Hello Everyone!

I just spent a messy, painty morning making my calendar page for the coming month of August.

I was inspired by my recent mark-making adventures, and used my favourite Dina Wakley paint colours (turquoise, magenta, lime & tangerine), with some of Dina's stamps. I added some marks with paint pens, and the journalling boxes were painted with PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Mermaid paint. This gives a nice smooth and matte surface to write on. I finished with some doodles around the boxes, and quotes about August around the edges of the pages.

I'm entering my calendar pages over at Art Journal Journey, where Jo from Let's Art Journal is hosting this month with the theme 'Poetry in Motion'.

Thanks for dropping by,
