Hello Everyone.
There's a new challenge for October over at Art Journal Journey, Elke has set the theme of 'Landscapes Of The Soul'.
I'm not sure if it's the change in the season, or the havoc the menopause is causing in my body, but this poem by Leila Thomson perfectly sums up the way I'm feeling.
"Low Ebb"
no reason
no light
no energy left to fight
not even the sparkles on the sea
can lift the spirit deep in me
one twist in the mind
has shut them out and made me blind
a shaft of light enters in
to touch the stone cold heart
waters churn
tides turn
birds take flight into the light
life blood flows in
There is hope after all! Tomorrow is another day. If you're feeling the same way, take heart, and have a good week.

Wonderful page, love the colour again. Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThank you Valerie!
DeleteA beautiful page Alison - I bet the light enters in soon again - the black and white motifs are fantastic to bring out the light! You have such a beautiful style always! I think menopause is not a very nice condition - I have my problems with it as well, but making art even can help this problems !
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for a wonderful page linked to the new theme!
Your support and participation makes me happy !
Happy new week and let us fight menopause with the help of making art!

DeleteA really gorgeous page Alison and a lovely poem too. So sorry to hear you're suffering and I'm sure you'll feel better soon, it does eventually improve I promise.
ReplyDeleteTake care, Fliss xx
This is a very moving poem you added to your wonderful page Alison. Keep positive and that dreaded 'M' we women have to go through, does get better in time.
ReplyDeleteYvonne
Thank you, Alison, for taking part in my topic and it makes me happy!
ReplyDeleteA touching, profound poem, I can understand that well!
Beautiful expressive image!
I hope you will be better soon!

Goodness, this doesn't sound good. Guess it's what I have to look forward to one of these years. I do love the juxtaposition between the black and white and the gorgeous colors.
ReplyDeleteThat's a thought provoking poem. I hope you feel better soon.
Now you are in your "blue phase" like Picasso. I guess, this will go by! But your page is beautiful, and there I see little red and yellow spots ...
ReplyDeleteAmazing page! The black and white really pops against the colourful background your created - beautiful 😁. I can relate to the dreaded "M" word too, hot flushes are my nemisus ...lol! Everyday seems to be different and like the fabulous poem says I live in hope ... that it will soon depart ...lol 😁. Wishing you a lovely week and I hope you feel better soon! J 😊 x
ReplyDeleteThe cool circles stand out. I think you were smart not to color them in so they really pop. And you know, fall and menopause are perfect reasons for the poem, which I happen to like. That is the cool thing about poetry, it can work in lots of situations. :) Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteSuper journal page Ali. Someone once said to me "There is light at the end of the tunnel but you can't see it yet". One day at a time.
