Winter Day Remedies and Bright Crochet

Hi Everyone!

Art has taken a back seat recently, as I was commissioned by my daughter to make a bright and lightweight top for her gap year travels. I adapted a pattern, using a more open and lacy stitch, so that it wouldn't be too heavy in her rucksack. It's basically 4 rectangles stitched together, leaving openings for arms and head, then a border added. She loves it!

So today I got out my paint, found a magazine image, empty teabag, and an old book page, and created a page in my art journal for Chris' challenge over at Art Journal Journey, '101 Ways To Keep Warm'. I should have written Winter Day Remedy, but too late now!

Wishing you all a warm and happy Sunday!

Art Journal Calendar - November 2017

Hi Everyone! Happy November!

Here's my art journal calendar for the coming month, inspired by bonfire night, fireworks, and cosy nights in by the fire. I always like to have candles burning this time of year, to scent my rooms and provide a warming glow. My page also fits with Chris' theme over at Art Journal Journey '101 Ways To Keep Warm'.

Have a lovely day, and remember it's less than 8 weeks till Christmas...argh!!

Art Journal Journey - Landscapes Of The Soul

Hello Everyone!

I wanted to make a final page for Elke's Landscapes Of The Soul Challenge at Art Journal Journey, and I really like to use simple collage and mark making. I also did some stencilling with paint, then found the word 'Soul' in my English Synonyms book, cut it out and added it to my page. Hope you like it.

I also made my November art journal calendar, but I'll save that until tomorrow.

Happy Tuesday! I don't do Halloween! :-)

Grad Day Jewellery

Morning Everyone!

The day is nearly here! After four years of hard work and partying, my daughter Beth's Grad Day is tomorrow. It's going to be rather posh, the ceremony is in The Royal Albert Hall no less. I have my outfit ready (dress and jacket - I'm calling it my Teresa May outfit!), and yesterday I put together some jewellery using the beads that I bought at the Knit & Stitch Show last week.

My dress has a red, orange and black design, hence the bead colours. I made two earring designs, and I think I'll wear the shorter orange and red ones, as they show up better against my fiery red, newly dyed hair.

The large beads are agate, the black are onyx, and the rest are glass.

I'm off to make some more preparations now. Have a lovely day!

Inspired by Karin

Happy Sunday Everyone!

I was inspired by Karin's techniques over at Birgit's Crew Member Wednesday Challenge, and created a double page spread in my 7x5" art journal.

I used Carabelle Studio stamps and stencils, and DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics.

Also, I thought I'd share my purchases from the Knit and Stitch Show last Thursday. I had a wonderful afternoon and evening with my hooking friends Jan, Gabby, Sandra and Linda, topped off with beer and curry at Victoria station's Wetherspoons.

A closer look at the agate and glass beads I bought. I'm intending to make myself some jewellery to wear at my daughter Beth's graduation this week.

Wishing you all a wonderful week,

Wanderlust week 21 - Work Big

Hello Everyone!

For week 21 of Wanderlust, Kasia invited us to work big. She suggested that we use inspiration from one of our own art journal pages, and create something big. My canvas isn't huge, about 14x12", but I took inspiration from this page in my 7x5" art journal.

I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend,
