Seek, Gather, Create August 2024 - Week 1

 Hi All.

Seek, Gather, Create August 2024 is another Instagram challenge, hosted by Tina Hois, Laura Denison, Lisa Goddard and Casey Turner.

These are the prompts for week 1...

1. colour: gold

2. plastic wrap

3. something burnt

4. handwriting or asemic writing

Here's the page I created...

I used some gold Twinings Tea plastic wrapping and created a little pocket using staples, made a background with lots of teabag texture and PaperArtsy Seaglass Fresco acrylic paint. I burnt some lace trim which was slightly scary, and added some scribbled journaling, Tim Holtz people and Dymo text.

I'm linking my page to Jo's Wonderfully Wild theme at Art Journal Journey.

Thanks for dropping by.

Ugly Art Club Challenge

 Hello All.

I'm still making junk journal pages using The Ugly Art Club's 5 minute Challenge prompts, but I haven't been timing my art this week. They are fairly quick pages, but taking more than 5 minutes. I don't like to leave them looking ugly either.

Here are this week's pages...

Day 4 - Blackout

Day 5 - Pink

Day 6 - Fungi

Day 7 - Botanical

Day 8 - Ruffle

Day 9 - Creepy

Day 10 - Stitch. I'm sharing this page with Neet's Fur or Feathers theme at Art Journal Journey. It took me way over the 5 minutes!

Thanks for visiting. I'm hoping to visit a few of your blogs today. I don't know where this last week went!

Hugs,

Alison

Daisy Yellow Art ICAD Challenge - Week 9

 Hi Everyone.

I have my final six ICADs to share with you today. I created a little series for these final few, using some recently made collage fodder, security envelopes, music paper, corrugated card, and found text from a book.

Here are my July ICADs. I couldn't fit them all into one photo, so there are two.

As usual, it's been a fun challenge working on these 6x4 inch index cards. Thank you all for cheering me along the way, I really appreciate your comments.

February Journal Recipe Day 17

 Hello All.

It's Day 17 of my February Journal Recipe Instagram collaboration with Shilpa, and here are today's prompts...

Colour - Sky Blue

Shape - Rhombus or Diamond

Technique 1 - Doodle in your shapes

Technique 2 - Add some scribble journaling

I used torn pieces of a security envelope, with the flower placed behind the envelope window.

I'm linking my page to Elizabeth & Bleubeard's What's your style theme at Art Journal Journey.

Before I go, here's Josie the tortoise. She came out of hibernation a couple of months ago, silly girl. Her brother Ollie is still sleeping.

And I noticed a heart shape on the tip of the wick of this tealight candle today.

Thanks for visiting.

Happy Friday!

February Journal Recipe Day 7

 Hi Everyone.

It's Day 7 of February Journal Recipe, my Instagram collaboration with Shilpa, and here are today's prompts...

Colour - Purple.

Shape - Triangle.

Technique 1 - Use a face cut out of a magazine.

Technique 2 - Print with cardboard.

As before, you must use at least 3 prompts on your page.

Here's what I came up with...

This one was tricky, as I don't use purple very often, but it does look rather fab with the orange. For the triangles, I used a stencil, a piece of stamp carving rubber cut into a triangle shape, and I folded a piece of cardboard for the gold triangles.

I created the magazine lady a gown and hat, with pieces of a gel print and some gold trim. Then I used some text from a book page to finish.

I think you'll agree this is another page in my style (apart from the purple!), so I'm linking it to Elizabeth and Bleubeard's What's Your Style theme at Art Journal Journey.

Thanks for all the lovely comments you're leaving, I really appreciate them.

28 Hearts Instagram Challenge 1-7

 Hello All.

I found an Instagram challenge for February, which just involves posting a heart a day. I decided to create 28 watercolour hearts, and I'm attaching them to my favourite round teabags. I've also added quotes inspired by Love Hearts sweets

Here are my first 7 hearts.

Thanks for dropping by today, have a great new week.

JJJ - Days 12-14

Hello Everyone!

I hurt my back at the beginning of the week, and woke up Tuesday morning with lower back pain, so I haven't been able to sit at my computer comfortably all week. Thankfully it's feeling a bit better now, but I'll carry on doing my back exercises and taking the anti-inflammatories for a wee bit longer.

I have a few more pages for Junk Journal January to share with you today.

Day 12 - Quote. This is one for Erika's Let's Face It theme at Art Journal Journey. Eleanor Roosevelt gave us some really great quotes!

Day 13 - Dreamy. I love that found book text 'fragments of everything', I think it's perfect for the theme.

Day 14 - Tickets and Tags. This is one of my favourites!

Many thanks for visiting here today.

Happy weekend,

Alison

Junk Journal January Days 5 & 6

 Hello Everyone.

Here are another couple of Junk Journal January pages.

Day 5 - Fabric. I drew a face on my seed head for Erika's Let's Face It theme at Art Journal Journey.

Day 6 - Inspiration. I used images from a magazine and a bird book for my collage. The yellow stripes are painted with a new neon watercolour paint I received yesterday.

Thanks for visiting me today.

Hugs,

Alison

52 Weeks Art Journal - Week 51 - Keep It Simple

 Hello Everyone.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. We got to see our two children, which was so precious after last Christmas. They've both been vaccinated and boostered, and did their Covid tests, so it felt reasonably safe.

Today I have managed to get back in my art room, and I created a couple of art journal pages. I'm sharing the page I made for week 51 of Raspberry Blue Sky's 52 Weeks Art Journal challenge. Keep it simple was the prompt.

I'm linking this page to Valerie's When One Door Closes, Another One Opens theme at Art Journal Journey.

Thanks for visiting me today,

Alison

Kasia's Care December 2021 - Days 10-14

 Happy Weekend Everyone!

After a nice but cold walk early this morning, then cleaning out the guinea pig cage, I found some time this afternoon for a bit of art. I'll be sharing that another day though, as it's too dark now to take photos.

However, here's my next instalment of Care December pages.

Day 10 - Silver. Apparently silver is a magical colour often associated with the aura of the female. I found a photo of my best friend, myself, and my daughter, taken about 10 years ago, and put it centre stage on my page.

I painted around us with silver watercolour paint. It's very shiny.

Day 11 - Your Senses. I listened to the robins in the cafe garden, whilst drinking a sweet and spicy chai latte.

Day 12 - Paint a watercolour robin. 'Robins appear when loved ones are near.'

Day 13 - A spontaneous call. I didn't make a call, but I did message my cousin the first time in a few months, to suggest a meet up in the new year. I journaled about that, then created my page over the top.

Day 14 - Embrace the mundane. Do some mindful stitching on your page. I stamped the face I carved recently, then used variegated embroidery thread to stitch the outlines. I didn't find this mundane at all.

Thanks for coming by today. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

GJJ Days 25 & 26 - Gratitude For Joy & For Recognition

 Hello All.

Today I'm sharing a couple more of my GJJ pages.

Firstly, Day 25's prompt was Joy. What gave us joy today? I saw a jay on the bird feeder in my garden twice in one morning, and both times it gave me joy, and I ran to tell my hubby. Unfortunately the jay didn't hang around long enough for him to see it too.

On Day 26, Sarah Matthew's prompt was gratitude for recognition. Sarah showed us how to make some foam word stamps, and also 'trash' stamps using the offcuts of foam, but I used some of my hand-carved stamps on my page instead.

Happy Friday to you all, and thanks for visiting.
