Crochet and Carvings

 Hello All.

I don't often share my crochet projects here, even though I constantly have a hook in my hand when I'm not getting painty. So here are a few of my recent makes.

I love making colourful crochet baskets to keep my yarn and projects in. It's a great way to use up odd scraps of yarn.

My daughter recently asked me to make something for her boyfriend's baby nephew Ernie. I crocheted a blanket and a little elephant comforter. I took the photo on my phone, and unfortunately it seems a little fuzzy.

Then she asked if I could crochet something for Ernie's older brother Arthur, who turns two this month. I found a pattern for a cute robot. When you open his chest flap, there is a heart shaped button hiding beneath.

Little Arthur is also a big Gruffalo fan, so I crocheted him a Gruffalo hat too. I'd never seen The Gruffalo, so I needed to do lots of research on this one.

Our daughter came to visit at the weekend with her boyfriend. It was lovely to see her and hug her again, and to finally meet him. She met him online last Summer, when we were in lockdown for the first time.

I've been carving some more stamps too. I needed some hedgehogs for a cute couple getting hitched this Summer.

And this plait was inspired by an image I saw on Instagram.

I'm hoping to do some art journaling this week, so I'll be back soon.

The 100 Day Project - 57-63

 Happy Saturday everyone!

I hope you're enjoying the Easter weekend.

I have some more of my hand-carved stamps for The 100 Day Project to share with you today.

A good variety of stamps again. You might recognise no. 61 as I used it as a border on my April calendar spread, and the leafy stem and elephant were used on my recent gel prints.

Thanks for visiting today,

The 100 Day Project - Days 51-56

 Hi Everyone!

It's been mostly sunny here today, which was lovely for our early morning walk today. I had another outing late morning, to the hospital for a routine ultrasound scan of my liver and gallbladder. Hardly a soul there, and as I was the only person in the waiting room, I was seen straight away. Just have to wait for the results now.

I thought I'd bring you up to date with my stamp carving this week. Here goes...

A few abstract designs which are going to be so useful, and I'm really thrilled with my little bee.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,

The 100 Day Project - Days 44-50

 Hello All!

I can't believe I am halfway through this 100 Day Project of carving my own stamps. That means I have carved 50 stamps!

So here are another week's worth for you to view.

As you can see, I had to carve myself a shamrock for St. Pat's Day, and some more numbers and mark-making stamps. I always need more mark-making stamps 😉

Enjoy the rest of your weekend,

Alison xox

The 100 Day Project - Days 36-43

Hello All. I hope you're having a good weekend so far. I've been busy in my studio, so it's been great here.

I have a few more of my hand-carved stamps to share with you today.

I really enjoy carving those blocky words, I'm sure there'll be more coming. And I'm pleased with how the face turned out, I'll be attempting more of those too. In fact number 41 was going to be a face, but it didn't work out, so I carved it out. I quite like what was left though, and I can always stamp it and draw in a face if I want to.

Thanks for dropping by today,

March Printing Challenge - Days 1-7

 Hi Everyone!

I found another challenge on Instagram! This one is from GelliArts who make Gelli Plates, and each day in March there is a different theme to use for your print.

Here are my first week's prints. I've used my hand-carved stamps on all but one of them, including word and number stamps that I carved the right way, so that they work with the Gelli Plate.

Happy new week!

The 100 Day Project - 29-35

Happy Sunday All! I hope you're having a good weekend.

I'm here today with this week's hand-carved stamps for The 100 Day Project.

That's all for now, quite a variety there.

The crow was very tricky, and since the substrate was double-sided, I ended up turning it over and making it a silhouette, as I'd made a few mistakes with my carving. The handy thing with silhouettes is that you can fill in with a black pen if it doesn't stamp properly ;-)

Thanks for visiting me today,

The 100 Day Project - 22-28

 Hello All.

I here today with my hand-carved stamps for the past week.

I'm really pleased with the word stamps, and they're so easy to carve on the erasers. And I absolutely love that flower! The crosses are going to be so useful for mark making. Let me know what you think :-)

Hope you're having a great weekend,

Thanks for visiting!
