Positive Vibes

Hi Everyone.

Positive is what I am. At my last hospital appointment, the results from my medication was good, and my liver is now functioning normally again. Tomorrow I have a scan though, to check for scarring on my liver. Keeping positive!
So I created a collaged page in my Dina Wakley art journal for Rike's The Colour Yellow theme at Art Journal Journey. Yellow is such a positive colour.

I used a hessian page, on which I'd previously cut a scallop edge. Then I layered book page, rusty paper, teabags, doodled scraps, and pieces from a magazine. I finished with the word sticker on a scrap of hessian, some pen outlines, and white paint splashes.

Update on the guinea pigs. Sadly it didn't work very well putting the two new piggies in with Angus, too many fights. So, as I don't have room for more than one cage, I made the difficult decision to take them back to the animal rescue centre. Hopefully someone will fall in love and home Hamish and Donald (I renamed Fergus as Hubby kept saying he resembled a certain sandy haired president!) very soon.
With the recent spring weather, my two Russian tortoises, Josie and Ollie have come out of hibernation and are very lively, so I've plenty to take occupy myself with!

Hope you're all having a great week,

Yellow Tree Flowers

Good evening blog friends. I had a little painty play in my gel print art journal again, and created some yellow tree flower thingys for Rike's The Colour Yellow theme at Art Journal Journey. I used DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic, and outlined using a nib pen and Bombay India Ink.

Thanks for visiting,

Ahh Sunflower!

Afternoon All!

I'm just getting back to the craft room after a little break, I had a horrible cold last week. There seems to be a lot of it about! Anyway, I'm a bit croaky, but feeling much better, especially after getting back in my art journal.

Working in my gel plate print journal, I adhered scrapes of paper and teabags, then made my collage sunflower with torn pieces of gel plate print and rusted paper. After adding more pieces of torn collage, I used a paint pen and gel pen to add doodles and marks, and wrote out the poem 'Ahh Sunflower by William Blake'.

Hoping my sunflower's not too orange, I'm entering my page for Rike's 'The Colour Yellow' theme at Art Journal Journey.

I've just discovered Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenge, where they have a Mixed Media Anything Goes theme, so I'm linking my page there also.

Happy creating,

Be Strong, Be Happy Journal Page

Hi Everyone!

Who'd have thought I'd take to yellow so well?! I have another art journal page to share for Rike's February Colour Yellow theme at Art Journal Journey, and also PaperArtsy's Topic One Colour Mustard challenge.

I'm working in my handmade gel print journal so there was already a background. I added some stamping, using a PaperArtsy Seth Apter stamp set with archival black ink and Snowflake Fresco acrylic. Then I used Dina Wakley stencils for the silhouettes, daisy patterns and words, with Banana, Terracotta and Mermaid Fresco acrylic, and black ink. I finished with black and white gel pen outlines.

Hope you've had a happy and creative day,

Alison xox

Happy 80th Birthday Dad

Morning Everyone!

It's my wonderful Dad's 80th birthday today.

Yesterday, my Dad, Mum, Brother, Sister, and all our families went out for a meal to celebrate Dad's birthday. It was lovely to catch up with everyone, and we had a great day.

I made Dad a birthday card naturally. He used to always be tinkering with cars, and even built his own car once. He loves to watch sport and motor racing, and played rugby as a young man, so I incorporated these interests into his card.

Those Tim Holtz gears and Finnabair nuts and bolts came in handy for the '80', and the cigarette cards and papers were from my papercrafting days. I used PaperArtsy Everything Art alphabet stamps for 'DAD'.

My Dad, Mum, Brother, Sister & Hubby, and I, are off to celebrate Dad's birthday with a pub lunch again today.

Hope you all have a wonderful day too,

Alison xox

Time After Time Journal Page

Hello Folks.

Here's another art journal page for Rike's 'The Colour Yellow' theme at Art Journal Journey.

The page started with some paper collage, then texture with teabag papers. I applied some white PaperArtsy Fresco acrylic with a palette knife, then used the knife to added mustard yellow and red Fresco acrylic. To highlight the texture, I added black Fresco acrylic, then I adhered three round teabags and turquoise paper circles. I scraped some more mustard yellow Fresco over the teabags, then stamped them with a PaperArtsy circle image by Seth Apter. I finished by stamping words from the same stamp set.

PaperArtsy's Topic 1 challenge theme is the colour Mustard, so I'm entering my page with them too.

I've just spent the day celebrating my lovely Dad's 80th birthday with all my family. His actual birthday is tomorrow, so I'll share the card I made for him then.

Hope you've all had a great weekend,

February 2019 Art Journal Calendar

Happy February Everyone!

Here is my art journal calendar spread for the month...

I started with some patterned paper collage, scraped white PaperArtsy Fresco acrylic over that, scribbled in the wet paint with the end of the palette knife, then scraped on some turquoise and red Fresco acrylic. I stencilled the journaling blobs with white, then yellow Fresco acrylic and a PaperArtsy stencil. The titles were also done with a PA stencil, and black Fresco acrylic. I finished with some stencilled yellow dots and black acrylic on the edges, then added the numbers and some black & white Posca paint pen doodles.

I'm linking my pages to Rike's Yellow theme at Art Journal Journey. I don't often use yellow, but I really like this colour combination.

Have a lovely weekend,

Alison xox
