100 Days of Watercolour - 24-30

 Hello All.

Here's another week of watercolour play. I've been cutting my pieces out to use on art journal pages, I really must get on and use them. I don't know where the time goes!

Day 24

Day 25 - These circles are about 4" in diameter, so quite big.

Day 26 - These are about 4" across too.

Day 27

Day 28

Day 29 - For these flowers, I first lay down the blobs of colour, then I sketched the flowers, then cut them out. I really love how these turned out.

Day 30 - I first put down the blue, then added yellow petals and orange centres, then the rest became daffodils with no blue. Hubby said the blue was there for Ukraine.

Thanks for coming to visit today. Hopefully I'll have something else to show you before next Monday.

52 Weeks Art Journal - Week 20 - Wild and Free

 Hello All.

It's Week 20 of Raspberry Blue Sky's 52 Weeks Art Journal Challenge, and this week's theme is Wild & Free.

I just went for it with this page, I didn't think too hard. As I finished with some wild and free scribbly writing, I'm linking up with Elle's Language theme at Art Journal Journey.

Wishing you all a happy weekend,

Creative JumpStart Day 19

 Hello All.

Day 19 of CJS was Love The Person You've Become with Marlene Meijer-van Niekerk. She showed us how to create a watercolour background, then used collage to add a figure representing ourselves, surrounded by some things we love.

Here's my take on the class.

I used some PaperArtsy stamps for the background and the art doll's face. I added teabags, collage circles and birds cut from a bird-watching magazine. After I finished, I noticed that the collage circles that I added to the art doll body looked like a bird's nest.

I'm linking up to Erika's Favourite Things theme at Art Journal Journey.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you're having a good week so far.

Creative JumpStart Day 16

I have another page for Erika's Favourite Things theme at Art Journal Journey

Tania Ahmed's class for Day 16 of CJS involves gel printing and using book text, two of my favourite things. I also used circles, which are my favourite shape, and scribbly writing.

I really like the words I found, quite appropriate for the time of year. Also, we are still going out at the crack of dawn for our daily walks. The sunrise was lovely this morning, and we saw the sparrow hawk and heron up on the golf course again, which made it even better.

Keep safe and carry on,

366 Somethings - Week 39

 Hi Everyone!

We had a great start today on our early morning walk. Well I did, as Hubby didn't have his glasses on. I saw some rabbits, one of which was close up, just the other side of a hedge in the lane. Then a deer ran across in front of us on the golf course. And to top it off, a huge flock of Canadian geese had stopped off by the lake on their way south. It was wonderful to see them taking off to continue on their journey.

Back to the art. I have another round of my collaged index cards to share with you today, and here they are. Teabag papers on every one this week!

I'm finding it hard to pick a favourite today. I love the dotty circles on 268, the heart on 269, the die-cut letter and number waste on 270 and 272, and the circles and squares and colours on 273! How about you?

Have a happy and creative week,

Alison xox

Art Journal Journey - Texture

Hi everyone! I have another page to share for Jo's Texture theme at Art Journal Journey

I used some old book pages and teabags for my base then lots of acrylic paint and marks, and a few pieces of washi tape. The large circle is a round teabag. Here's a closer shot. I wrote the words 'I am strong' repeatedly around the circles.

Tamara Laporte of Willowing Arts is holding free 2 week taster art sessions for her Lifebook 2021 course, starting on Monday, and this page was a warm up session for those.

I hope you're having a great weekend, thanks for visiting,

Alison xx

Texture and Other Stuff

Hi Everyone!

I have another page to share for Jo's Texture theme at Art Journal Journey.

This page started with some gesso and leftover paint, then I added some collage materials, book page scraps, teabags, paper coasters, and die-cut leftovers. Then I just went crazy, scraping red and blue paint and white gesso over it, stamping lime paint with giant Lego, drawing circles with drawing ink, and dripping :-) I tore some lime painted book page circles, adding them to the ink circles, painted red hearts, and finished with some scribble writing and black ink splashes.

Now for the other stuff. Some photos from our early morning walk. We saw lots of Canadian geese on the golf course lake on Monday. I love the mist rising off the lake!

A beautiful sunflower growing in our garden.

And especially for Neet, a photo of my guinea pigs, Angus on the left and Elliott on the right, enjoying some grass. Elliott's the cheeky youngster at 18 months, and Angus his long-suffering 4 year old chum. They get on quite well really, bless them, and they're actually the same size, although Angus looks a lot smaller in the photo.

Art Journal Page - Joy

Hi Everyone! Here's another 5 minute page, and as it has a lot of painty texture, I'm linking it to Jo's Texture theme at Art Journal Journey.

I used an old credit card to scrape the blue and lime acrylic paint on my page, then used the edge of the card to add the textured lines. I used a cork and red acrylic paint to print the circles, then painted the word 'Joy', and finished with some red and white paint splatters.

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend,

Alison xox

Abstract Flowers

Happy Friday Everyone!

Today, I have another page to share for my Pockets & Tags theme at Art Journal Journey.

I created a little corner pocket for my abstract flowers to sit in.

Here's my 5 minute background that I began with. I'm almost sorry to have covered it up.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,

366 Somethings 2020 - Week 33

Hello Everyone!

Today, I have my week 33 ICADs to share with you.

I wonder if you have a favourite this week. Number 229 with the bird was very popular on Instagram, and I was very pleased with how he turned out. I found the perfect words to go with him too I thought. But I do really like number 228, with the collage, the wording I found on the book page scraps that I used, and those red dotty accents.

Hope you're all having a good week, thanks for dropping by.

More Stitching!

Hi Everyone!

Since I've started stitching on my art, I've been meaning to create another page for Halle's Stitch in Time theme at Art Journal Journey.

I discovered it's quite tricky stitching onto teabags! Just as well I don't like to be too neat!

I used stamps by Prima Finnabair and That's Crafty.

Wishing you all a happy and creative weekend,

thanks for visiting,

366 Somethings - Week 22

Hello Everyone!

I'm a little bit late with my collaged ICADS for the past week, but here they are.

This week's favourite for me is definitely 149 with that hot pink and black, and the teabag texture. Which is your favourite?

Daisy Yellow Art's annual ICAD challenge began on Monday. It runs throughout June and July, 61 days. So I'm joining in with my daily index cards for that period. There are daily themes, but it's not necessary to follow them if you don't want to. I might occasionally follow the theme. I did for no. 154, the theme of which was 'Marigold'.

I hope you're having a good week. It's been hot and sunny here until today. It's still fairly warm, but we have had a little rain, the first in a few weeks! The gardens are desperate for it.

Thanks for visiting,
